Territory Coverage while on Maternity Leave

Hello everyone. *My RD and I were talking the other day about what to expect while I am on my maternity leave. *While I know I should expect long nights, and no sleep, he told me that he would have an inside sales person cover my territory. *I didn't know Shire has inside sales people. *Has anyone has any experience with anyone from the inside? *Are they full-time, or are they just temps hired when needed for territory coverage? *He said not to worry about anything, but I just would like to know more about the person who will be replacing me for a few months.

If anyone could provide some insight, I would appreciate it. *I am not sure if there are any inside sales representatives on this board, or if any field sales rep could answer some of my questions, that would be great.

Thanks!

*you must not have been here very long to know that our inside sales force covers empty territories OR *you are not from a zone that fires reps just for the hell of it and had a need for inside sales to cover all the empty territories. *dont worry about your territory while you are out because the doctors will appreciate not seeing you every week and your numbers will actually go up! *have fun on your three month vacation

Brand new and going on paid leave for 3 months? Wow, not many places would allow that. We are lucky to work for a great company. All you CP whiners take notice of one of the many awesome benefits we enjoy, quit your bitchin, and put half the effort you do into complaining into doing your job more effectively...prob make PC.

Inside sales helped me when I was on leave. I think their help prevented a big drop in sales. Before inside sales helped out, your territory would do fine while you were gone but then take a dive when you got back because there's a delayed reaction from no calls.

Keep in contact with your rep from time to time if you can to help keep your territory top of mind. Enjoy your time with your baby!!

Thanks for the positive response. Do you happen to remember who was the rep that covered for you? If you don't want to mention her/his name publicly, you could message me privately.

Again, thank you.

I am definitely not brand new, and don't know why people would insinuate that I am based solely on my original post.

Its not the fact that she didn't know we have an inside sales team that makes her clueless, it's the fact that she doesn't know why people would insinuate that she is based on her original post. It reads like you started yesterday. FYI OPer, we also have a HR department for these things.

I knew we had Inside Sales Reps, but have often wondered why they don't always core territories that either are vacant, or have a rep out on leave. Why wouldn't the RD have someone cover open territories? I know there have been vacant territories that the RD choses to cover him/her self.
