Terrible Week for the Field

I sat this afternoon with a long time sales rep to console them after being dismissed this week. A really great representative that has produced year in and year out. It broke my heart as they cried on my shoulder about their uncertain future and what is in store. Those of us that are still employed should be thankful each day that we dont have to go through the pain that I witnessed today. I saw a scared and defeated individual who normally is upbeat, motivated and postive. I can't imagine what was going through this individuals mind as he discussed his family and the bills that will come due. I encourage each of you to reach out to those you know were affected as they all need our support.
 






The memo that Lori sent out today is totally false as no attempt has been made to help any of those displaced roll into available open positions in the company. There are open positions in many of the territories affected but no efforts have been made. All listed on the intranet. Where is the humanity in this? Where is the compassion for our people? Management of all open positions should be encouraged to look at these folks!!! This not the Covidien that I signed on to work for.
 






This is very true and Hercules has yet to wield his heavy hammer. There will be much more tears in the early spring! If you start out 2013 in the hole start looking!
 






This is happening throughout the device world, not just Covidien. Medtronic is also laying off people , St Jude. I blame Obama and the med device tax not our management that is trying to do their job and save the company.
 






It sucks. It really does. I feel bad for that person. Heck, I might be gone after the next round of cuts. As callous as this is to say. That is what happens in a capitalist system.
 






It does suck. It is one thing to need to cut to reduce expenses it is another thing to not really try to place all those displaced. Management should be ashamed of it self for not encouraging management of the other divisions to take a hard look at those eliminated. Callous is an understatement. How can they expect any loyalty from those that remain? The new leadership is really self centered.
 






























Not every device company is laying off. Some are hiring and growing. Why are they growing? Must be b/c of how shitty they are and how much they suck (according to all the BS here on CP), not because they're actually providing a value to the customer.
 






Keep voting for obama you idiot! Barry will send you a welfare check and put you on food stamps when you're company collapses under more taxes and regulation. Moron. Oh, capitalism is so rough? I'm sure we could get a few guys to chip in for your flight to cuba, venezuela, china, et, al.
