Yes, the Tea Party believes in the greatness of this nation and the fact things should be put into proper historical context. Slave trade is a definite scar on the nation but it should be understood for the time period, much like not allowing women to vote was not motivated by evil. This reminds me of the stupidity in current textbooks condemning the US for Hiroshima without ever discussing the Japanese emperor and the cultural facts around his refusal to surrender. History should tell the full story, not the current libbie version apologizing for being a great nation.

Oh, its just a minor blip in our history that we wiped out millions of native americans, enslaved millions more and for 100yrs, denied them full citizenship.

Most history I've read condemns nazis and the barbarism of the holocaust. However, it also provides great insight into how this occurred, the economics of the times, why people were so drawn to Hitler, and how they so easily accepted the Jewish people as a scapegoat for all of their woes. No one is saying we should deny the facts of history, but to tell the full story. All Germans and others who did nothing to stop Hitler's rise and the genocide of Jews are not hated and condemned because people see the larger picture. It is this deeper understanding instead of just apology and condemnation that helps us avoid repeating these tragedies.

Thieves and murderers will always find a justification for their actions....you know, the "perspective" the lead them to do what they do.


But lets just focus on the good qualities they have, such as brushing their teeth 3x a day, exercising, and eating their vegetables...

Jared was worried about taxes being raised on the rich, and that made him insane with rage. It's just not fair to tax the rich, especially when their money is not on the gold standard. Besides, they have "poor grammer skills"

I don't care about his economic situation because, at least at this point, it seems irrelevant to the issue. And yes, I've been very clear that we need to understand how a kid so severly deranged, with 5 separate interventions by police, multiple disruptions in school to the point he was banned from class, and clear personality changes as noted by his friends, managed to not be evaluated by a mental health care professional. This in no way excuses or condones his actions and doesn't change the fact he is a murderer. But understanding the core issue of HOW this happened is how it is prevented going forward. Pointing fingers and trying to make this about politics and controlling guns for law abiding citizens does nothing to correct the issue because people want to ignore the cause. Ignoring the root cause means solutions are misguided and do more damage than good, and do nothing to correct the issue.

Just curious, why don't you channel your issues with slavery to the places where there still *IS* slavery? Like Africa for instance?

White people were the first race to free another race from slavery. Slaves were sold to whites by other Africans.
