Taking 2 days off when i get home

Since some idiot made the ridiculous meeting schedule I plan on taking Monday and Tuesday off to catch up with Fam. No sales call, no phone, no email.. If Amgen wants to take me away from my family and waste my time then I will take a few days and make up for it. Next meeting make it worthwhile. Ever hear of a webex for the stupid worthless computer and compliance training? Or is this the way for Raticans wife to be able to attend?
 






It's actually really nice to see a pharma rep that values and prioritizes family. Better than reps who think their every move and every meal at a national sales is really interesting to those geniune "friends" who are taking time to click "like" on Facebook.
 






When a company does not value the family one must take action. Who thinks a meeting monday through friday and having people not land until 10:00 or after is a good idea? So I say take the days off and enjoy! Perhaps the dumb asses will one day wake up.. most likely they wont.
 






Agreed-screw em. Take time to enjoy your family and catch up. These meetings are a huge waste of resources and time. The world and pharma are changing. This stuff was a good thing years ago, but utterly ridiculous in today's environment. After being laid-off and currently facing the same thing again, I learned - you and your family come first.

wake up and smell the coffee the most profitable enterprises in the world are built on models that take into account an appropriate work-life balance. If your concern is the 5.50 per hour rate (i.e we should be thrilled for our jobs) recognize that many of us were heavily recruited for these positions and do have options. Treat your people right and they will work harder, better, smarter. Make poorly thought out decisions, plan haphazardly, and mix up your "means" and "ends" and you will undoubtedly alienate your people. Seperately, is the language necessary? Seriously, if management thinks (and for that matter expresses themselves this way) we have bigger problems than someone taking a few days to catch up with their family.

I am not the OP, but I agree with them. With technology the way it is now, many of these topics can be taken care of via webex. meetings such as these are an enormous waste of money...all the flights, hotel rooms, food etc.

And by the way, no one appreciates your foul language. Put it in check.

The new iPad means...tracking. The reason amgen did this is because upper management thinks that reps aren't working full days. The GPS in the iPad can find you...better start working!
 






Agree with OP; floated this request to manager and was told to keep it low (top 9% in Reg) and a bunch of time-off EARNED. Why do we feel bad taking days off from this company? He wants us all selling next week as we missed this week-UGH.He has follow-up TC Monday-time to be determined to assure we are up early and in field soon after.
 






Really, how dare the company ask us to travel! The nerve! And the audacity to actually pay us to do this and put us up in a nice hotel. Those selfish bastards. You'll all be the first to be RIF'ed and to sit around and cry and wonder why did this happen to me? Where did i go wrong? Then you'll long for the days of having to go to Vegas for a few days.
 


















Agree with OP! Taking Monday and Tuesday off. If UM think its "so important" to be out selling then don't waste my time and take me out of the field for stuff that can be done via webex. Lost production, extra expenses for hotel and food= less profitability. I also agree with another poster in that happy employees equal more productive employees. Who thinks anyone wants to be gone for an entire week? I don't care if you put me in a 5 star hotel while being pampered all week. Not interested. Oh and by the way the Venetian is just an average hotel. It had 4 walls a few tv's, a shower and a toilet. I have all of that at home.. Did I mention that my territory is also back home and not at some hotel in Las Vegas? 80% of content at this meeting was a complete waste. Thanks for some free food.

You're right. I mean its a job, what makes Amgen think they can tell us what to do? We should be able to do whatever we want and love everything we do. What a selfish company we work for!

So does your iPhone, Android, gas card, and computer. If you really think people are spending time monitoring all of those iPads, iPhones, etc you're crazy.
 






Gotta love the OP! He/she is absolutely dead on! Enjoying my 4 day weekend and my 11 days out of the field. Who in their right mind thinks having a meeting where people have to leave home at 3 or 4 am to get to the meeting by 1:00 and then not arriving back home until 11 or 12 am on Friday evening/ Saturday morning is a good business decision. I agree in that Webexs could have taken care of a majority of the very poor agenda and meeting. Heads should roll for this meeting. If we performed at this mediocre level in the field we would be on a plan. This meeting was a great example of people being fake and box checking. Is that what we have become? Box Checkers? If so we will be just like every other "big pharma" company and next in line for the big layoff. Upper management get your heads out of your ..... and get back to being efficient and only having topics that are topics that need to be done as a group. Compliance can easily be done via an online assignment. Do you really need to certify us on our detail? Come on. We need to start holding these pathetic people that they call "leaders" accountable just like we are held accountable in the field.
