Takeda takeover

Flemming has failed to produce internal growth and there is no R&D. Takeda already has sales and marketing. We have to be sold. Takeda doesn’t need any of us and remember last time Flemming tried this we were going to get screwed.

Looks like Shire will be acquired by Takeda. What does that mean for the sales force.

More importantly, what does it mean for all the HQ assholes that come on this site and spew venom on how the field sucks? Karmas a bitch! If this deal goes through, all you assholes will be looking for a new gig. They may choose to let some of the sales force go, but they certainly don't need some mid level marketing schmuck or admin.

How big is Shire sales force? Takeda primary care is around 950..neuroscience roughly 250 and Entyvio roughly 200

Neuroscience is about 500. 60% of the sales force calls on “adult” docs. Psychs, primary care. 40% of the sales force calls on “pediatric’ docs. Pediatricians and some child psychs.
There are approximately 8 reps for every manager. There are 5 Zone directors
There is also a contract sales force and no one knows what they do.

Which salesforce? Shire has about 50 different groups.

Off the top of my head, neuroscience will be gone quickly. One week's severance for every year worked is standard.

That's a terrible package but if you are laying off an entire field force, it's probably the most cost effective way to do it. The company that is purchased are the ones who negotiate the severance packages for their employees that will be let go. Shire doesn't give a shit about their employees and will take the easiest way out if they are selling.
Selling to a company that already has a field force that essentially calls on the same doctors you do is not a good sign for the reps at the company being bought.

Just so you know Takeda has big bucks and wants and needs a company with profitable products. Plus they have a big interest in staying in CNS due to Trintellix and its' profits. The waiting game is on!!! It makes perfect sense to acquire Shire!
