"A federal judge bars Blue Belt Technologies' new hire, ex-Stryker marketing director James Bruty, from attending the annual American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons conference in Chicago this week.

Stryker (NYSE:SYK) won a round in its lawsuit against upstart rival Blue Belt Technologies and its new hire, a former Stryker marketing director, after a federal judge barred the ex-employee from attending this week's annual conference of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.

Judge Janet Neff of the U.S. District Court for Western Michigan enjoined James Bruty, an 8-year Stryker vet and former senior global director of marketing for Stryker Navigation, from attending the AAOS conference in Chicago, according to court documents...."

Blue Belt. Worst. Launch. Ever. Debuting at AAOS '13 and your VP of Marketing & Sales has a court ordered ban from attending? And that's at least the 2nd lawsuit filed? I don't know who's sleeping worse at night. The CEO or the sales rep(s)? Or whoever does their recruiting. LMFAO.

"...Neff ordered Bruty to stay away from the AAOS conference and barred him and Blue Belt from using any information obtained from Stryker and from contacting any Stryker employees in an effort to lure them away to Blue Belt. Neff also ordered Bruty to return "any and all files, devices and/or documents that contain or relate to Stryker's confidential and proprietary information, including without limitation, all computers, electronic media, PDAs and electronic storage devices," according to the documents...."

I think Blue Belt finally "sold" a second NavioPFS to Tri-City (CA). At least Tri-City put out a PR. Blue Belt fairly quiet. Ha. Maybe Tri-city particulars were on a pilfered (allegedly ;) ) list. The second exec to be accused of the same conduct? Was anyone coaching them? I see a Dateline or 20/20 type exposé one day if this keeps up. Good stuff.

Are you telling me Stryker has proprietary Intel/Knowledge in anything orthopedics? I digress, the uni/robot stuff is the biggest joke right now. Any hospital/surgeons that are interested in uni/robot stuff is quickly squashed when they see the Zimmer ZUK PSi program. It is like taking candy from a baby. Funny thing is that very few unis get scheduled after we kick out Mako. That is because very few patients qualify for a uni. However, if a hospital wastes a $mil+ on a stupid Mako Rio system, then the surgeons are pressured to do unis on patients that need a total knee replacement. You know, the hospital PR people parade school kids thru the OR dressed out in scrubs playing on the Rio for some cheap publicity stunt in the local newspaper. At the same time, these kid's parents and grandparents are getting the wrong operation on their knees. Shamefull!!

Not here. Administrators are giddy. Prospective patients are cramming the seminars AND making appts. If they are not too far progressed for the uni they get it, if not they often get a TKR. Halo effect. Either way, our numbers are up which is more than the other departments can say.
