Stock Split of 2012

Stock splits are a little out of vouge...even growth companies these days are considering it bragging rights to break triple digits. Look at google, chipotle, apple, etc.

Companies stopped doing splits after the big 2008 downturn and some companies dropped down into single digits...made them look fly by night.

Anyhow...my guess is they will just want to run up share price, not go with a split. We'll see...

Stock splits are a result of not enough supply of the stock to meet buyer demands. The market demands more supply so the company splits its stock and supply is doubled. Is that really the case here that demand is high for Amgen stock? I don't think so. Price is moving up on cutting of expenses and KS leaving, restructuring, etc. but definitely not due to people climbing all over each other to trade their cash for Amgen stock. Split may happen, but probability is low. Money is flowing into the market because people can't get a good return anywhere else thanks to such low interest rates.
