Steam Plant or Russell Center?

There's a rumor they are giving up the old Steam Plant.

Surely, this is just about the Russell Center Space that we are leaving. That's what was leased for "the admin bloat" that's getting trimmed.

We aren't going to close all the research labs yet, are we? I thought they'd last another qtr.

last couple months, we get people by the labs who have what I call "measuring tape eyes", but I'm never sure why.

Why are they hiring people for the NJ plant that is closing? More outlandish bullshit from this company.

Research and development is not necessary for a company that is closing shop out of necessity and selling one product and the science to the buyer

But, the expense helps close sooner while being "forward looking" to the world. That's the trick to getting it done quikly, like keeping 3 plants open and then spending more to close one than would have been spent from now until it's over, taking on extra space in NJ and Russell to look exuberant, etc.

right now, it's one product, one with declining sales from a peak that isn't worth it to BP. The need Neuvenge to be real to make it one product and the science.

Alas, the one product has zero value at the moment, though JNJ could fix that getting the protocol changed to give it sooner to work better and then followup with other treatment.

But, things are going down so fast, it's just the one product that has no value to BP.

Exactly. Thats what I've been saying! BP can improve on the science. Right now it's just not a saleable product (for a company to make profits) at its price, its cogs, the complexities of the treatment and its benefit. It's just not. The longer a small very troubled biotech company has provenge the worse off cancer patients are.

Additionally they took a 25M charge today but why can't they tell us how much this whole restructuring is going to cost and why can't they be honest about the need for a dilution and when it might happen and if they think there won't be a need tell us why. Giving a completely deceptive 49M cash burn just from operating expenses tells no one anything about a company that has a huge restructuring, a plant closing, huge legal costs that may not be covered by insurance. All 49M is telling people is that if Dendreom didn't have these huge extraneous expenses, they would be losing 49M a quarter. How can a company not disclose these things so employees can decide their future based on facts and not secrets.

This thread and most of the Cafepharma threads for Dendreon clearly identify the cause of this company's current troubles. There is a cancer that needs to be rooted out before this company can get to where it shpuld be. No, it is not the senior management even though 95% of you want to blame them and even send them to jail.

No, the cancer is a fifth column of employees intent on destroying this company. It isn't a conspiracy but, rather, the entitlement mind set of the liberals that fill our halls. Everything is owed without any hard work. No one looks in the mirror and says, "what can I do to turn this around? Did I partially cause the mess we are in?" The sales department has been lazy and chose way too early to try to put sales on cruise control like an insurance man. Hopefully, the changes will light a fire cracker under the "behinds" of those that remain and get the job done. Others of us need to be more productive and less destructive.

Come on, do your part and stop being the problem.

Cafe Pharma wow!!!! Now even Mitt Romney posts on your board. You're becoming popular!! or maybe it is because Mr. Romney by trashing 47% of the country has officially lost and now he has time to post his contempt for hard working people on Cafe Pharma.

Mitt is now defending not just the filthy rich but now filthy rich criminals and blaming the working class who were already laid off and/or will be laid off either through the restructuring or eventual takeout by mid 2013 for the problems of this company.

I guess it was the salespeople who ignored the projections of those responsible for projections. I guess it was the salespeople who built 3 plants and were criminal enough to base projections on a first of its kind "paradigm shift" complicated treatment on selling itself. I guess it was the salespeople who can't make a company profitable with 228M in sales due to their tireless work. Of course Mitt, its the middle class who joined Dendreon in the hopes of making a better life for them and their families only to find they were duped under pretenses of phony exuberance. You just lost the election due to your contempt for the people who make this country great and now you're posting here getting behind another losing proposition. Congratulations on joining your newest lost campaign. Your presidential campaign and Dendreon as a company are still officially alive but in reality Dendreon was done on August 3, 2011 when horrific acts were discovered and your campaign was done 2 nights ago. Be well Mitt. Enjoy your misery and contempt for this great country and the people who make it great.

"Additionally they took a 25M charge today"

You were saying it would be $200 million charge. I guess you are completely full of BS.

The restructuring will make the cost structure of the company in line with other biotechs. The restructuring charges are on time expenses. When they come out they will lean and mean.

Liar. This is straight from the 8K. It's a downpayment. You have an agenda and are intent on falsely pumping this company for that agenda. Honest companies would have only taken a partial charge now too but would have disclosed the full cost of the restructuring.

"Charges related to the Company's reduction in headcount are expected to be recorded in the Company's operating results during the second half of 2012 and will continue into 2013. As previously disclosed, the Company expects implementation of the restructuring plan to be completed by mid-2013."

Absolutely. You have to wonder why anyone would call it a one time charge when the 8K filed just yesterday says it is just the first charge and the charges will continue in the rest of the second half of 2012 and first half of 2013. The 25M also does not include any of the actual shutdown costs of the plant. It would be very surprising if the full charge does not end up being well north of 100M.

"The Company expects to incur total cash and non-cash charges of approximately $25 million associated with such reduction in headcount for employee severance and other related termination benefits and non-cash compensation due to the accelerated vesting of options and restricted stock awards of certain employees. These cash and non-cash charges include the $4 million in initial restructuring charges related to severance and other related termination benefits previously discussed in the Company’s original Current Report"

It is total headcount related charges of $25 million and part of the charges are non cash. Your short the stock agenda comes through your posts loud and clear. You are claiming $75 million plus to shut down a plant - you are out of your mind. You were claiming a few weeks ago $200 million in restructuring charges. Shows how false your wild claims are.

I said $150M give or take $50M. At the high end and the goal was clear.

Still looks good as others have made clear.
