Staying or leaving

When do you plan on leaving AAH?

1. Before your customers receive their catheters?
2. Before you see the miserable outcome to another comp plan?
3. Before they have a chance to ship us to Vegas?
4. As soon as you get another offer?
5. Before this time next year?
6. After you are vested in the pension plan?

Be careful what you wish for, it could be a lot worse! The grass is not always greener...especially in this economy.

Oh, but the grass IS greener. I have never been happier since leaving AAH.

No longer do I have to tolerate talentless leadership, a pathetic product line and horrible bureaucracy. AAH should be closed down and leave the business to real veterinary pharma companies.

Would you recommend AAH to a human pharma rep as a stepping stone? Nothing can be worse than the human pharma industry right now. At least AAH is more of a B2B sale and could be leveraged in the future.

No, I would not recommend AAH to anyone.

IMO you would be better to wait for a job in a real animal health company to open up. The huge turnover in employees at AAH tells a story of a very unhappy workforce.

Thanks for the feedback! I am very concerned about the turnover I have read about. However, in this job market, if you don't have animal health experience, they will not look at you.

Well it is true that a lot of people have used AAH as a stepping stone into vet pharma. Join up, get the training, stay in territory for about a year and then move to a company that understands its customers and has a real range of products.

What is your honest opinion about the future in the animal health industry outside of AHH? Do you think it looks promising or will it ultimately fold like human pharma has for reps? It doesn't seem to be regulated as heavily and is much more of a b2b sales job.

One word - consolidation.

Animal Health will always be around, but it is going to be concentrated into 3 or 4 huge global companies. Animal health has not suffered from the excessive numbers of reps seen on the human side, but consolidation into bigger companies will result in economies of scales and fewer animal health jobs overall.

The other thing that is going to be a problem in the future is the lack of a pipeline. Most animal health companies have scaled back their discovery/R&D spends.

Leaving as soon as I can. I don't think I know anyone that has been with AAH longer than 6 months that is not currently looking for a new job

just curious...in your opinion...why do you think that is the case?

(btw, i used to work here and absolutely hated the culture that was drilled down by gjiiillll peeessccceeeooonnnneee)

I also used to work at AAH and left because I hated the culture. I blame the majority of the problems at the time on J Schubert. He has gone, is Jill still there? How are working conditions now?

Chris and Jeff are great and they are very reasonable as opposed to the old regime. The aggravation comes from regional management who seem to have forgotten that the old regime is gone. Work work work until you burn out & quit
