Well, we did it again. We managed to screw up negotiations with HPG. I havent missed a day of work in 7 years, but I'm so emotionally spent this morning that I'm not going to leave my house. I'll get out there and beat back some enseal, gyrus and harmonic tomorrow, but today I want to sit here and bitch. I think I have earned that right by continuously hitting my number.

So here goes. I understand that some reps cant beat their Ethicon counterparts and let Enseal in the door at their HPG hospitals, so HPG decided to award a dual source bi-polar contract, but WTH were they thinking not pushing for a dual source Ultrasonic contract. Now I will be locked out of these facilities (when and if) we ever get cordless off the ground (still not convinced). Now I have to use one line to fight on two fronts. Thats how Napolian lost the way....trying to battle on two fronts. All I can say is JNJ got us this time!
 


















Hope you enjoyed your day off. Sometimes you just need to take a day and breathe the mountain air. Reps that sell Enseal have to take days like that all of the time. They get frustrated selling inferior "me too" technology. I guess they should be used to it, their endo counterparts do it all year long.

How dare HPG allow a competitor in on what is rightfully your territory. You own it. It's yours to do whatever you feel you want to do to the customer. Conmed should be ashamed of itself for thinking they are allowed to compete in your part of the neighborhood. Disgusting...

You must be new here and still drinking the kool-aid. WE (Covidien) are just as guilty of creating "me too" products. Small Jaw, our right angled linear cutter, bladeless trocars, optically guided trocars, our soon (maybe) Harmonic device. The list goes on and on.

You can say that their stuff is "me too" but guess what? It works.

Honestly, any bipolar device is "me too". They all use electricity to seal the vessel and a knife to cut the tissue. Ligasure works, Enseal works, Gyrus works.

Just reminds me how our national accouts team was money well spent. Chalk up another missed opportunity to the overpaid and underperforming national accounts team. They couldnt fight out of a wet paper bad much less win a contract.

"Your" reps aren't making life miserable. "Your" reps only shot at business is through a contract. Covidien has the better technology, we have the better prices, and all you have is GPO contracts and some decent band-aids. So sit back and watch us take your harmonic marketshare.

Funny how a Conmed representative is talking tough. How's Altrus working for you? Setting the world on fire? Kind of like Starion. Aren't they the same product?

If you're going to market Altrus, here's an idea, at least have videos on your website that make the device look somewhat decent in action.

Check the award, Altrus isn't even on the contract. Good luck trying to get into that space with Covidien and EES taking up that market for HPG.

I heard that we can't leverage Ligasure for the ES disposable business...is that correct? I also heard HPG let J&J leverage Harmonic for Enseal? Sounds like our corporate sales group screwed up.
