So st. Jude makes a bad heart valve and a patient dies because of it. Patient's family sues and looses because federal preemption. Then st. Jude sues for attorney fees.

Actually SJM makes the best mechanical heart valve. It was implanted in 1988, that's 25 years ago! What would has life expectancy been with his stenotic or prolapsed mitral valve? Not 25 years...this is a cash seeking lawsuit that is case in point an issue with our health system. The next guy she goes after will be the surgeon. Did this patient take his anticoagulation meds regularly? Was his INR stable between 2.5-3.0 for 25 years? Again, doubtful. Sjm heart valves prolong the life of of millions of sick people.

Get a clue- theses valves have been the mechanical gold standard for a LONG time
