Spotlight points

Looking for a polite way to decline spotlight points, or to tell my manager I don’t want them. Appreciate the recognition, but we are being taxed 100% of the value so I’d really rather not spend my own money on points to buy crap I don’t want. I’m basically paying for my own “award” that my manager thinks is an amazing benefit.

How much are you getting in Spotlight points? $20. $50. How much in taxes are you paying on this? $5. $10?
Keep your mouth shut. Be grateful. And put your concerns into something that is of real concern.

I am at a different company and I used to think the same thing....over priced junk. But then someone told me you can convert them to gift cards dollar for dollar. I converted my to Amazon gift cands and then downloaded the card to my Amazon account. I always need something eventually at Amazon. Hope that helps

Appreciate the vitriol. Look at your withholding on paystub. You pay 100%. So if you get several hundred dollars “worth” it’s taxed at 100%. I’d rather have the cash I’m paying in taxes for gift cards to select places.
oh, and go fuck yourself. :)

I work at Syneos and also converted the points to gift cards.

You are one of the dummies that think withholding equals tax. Pro tip: nothing on your paystub indicates how much income tax you actually pay. It shows how many dollars are withheld to put towards your actual tax debt, whatever it ends up being.
You’re seeing a 100% “gross up” and only end up paying about 15% effective tax rate on it, unless you earn over $175k; if so, a little more. Still better to get the points.

So, many people out of work, families standing in food lines, Covid running rampant throughout the country, terrible election season, and you’re worried about spotlight points. My God you are self-absorbed!

I got the impression they were concerned about money out of pocket, perhaps to spend on food and such.

This job pays the most per hour considering the 2 hours per week we work to enter calls on the iPad. No field rides for a long time, and access is terrible. The company gets paid if we hit our call metrics, and this is what matters.
