Are you guys hearing anything about spin off of the medical device business’s to include all new robotics and digital health?
I’ve had market development reps from robotics visit surgeons in my territory. A great PowerPoint presentation and impressed surgeons. After the visit, the MD reps tell me there are no deliverables to the field for YEARS!!
It only exists on PowerPoint for the next few years. By the time we come out with one, other robots will already be 3-4 steps ahead.
There is no way Ethicon can compete in a digital space. Tech is a fast paced world where creativity is embraced and rewarded. JNJ is a New Jersey company and last I checked outside of Jersey Shore, nothing comes out of there that is creative, technical, or intelligent
Your response is going to be Digital Surgery is in California and you are correct they are. But the shots are still called in New Jersey. That robot has gone back to the drawing board again to try to combine what Verb had and what Auris has.
Intuitive is getting smarter and starting to work with hospitals vs cramming things down their throat. That was the opening and the lack of engineering ability along with the old blue blood of JNJ just doesn’t line up. But hey we have a bunch of MBA’s from Worton, Duke and Northwestern. Those sound like diverse schools......QUOTE="anonymous, post: 6349147"]J&J realized that the project scope, complexity, and timeline are much bigger and longer than they can stomach.
You just can't build robot overnight.
JNJ leaders are easily fooled and bribed. Why do you think one of the board member from McKinsey? Most big transformations were initiated by them where JNJ pays $400-500/hours to sell ideas.
2024 now for North America which really means we have no idea what we are doing.
Intuitive is out building surgeons practices, and JNJ legal says you can’t
please honestly, who would you work with?

And even when it does come out you still won’t be able to count robotic stapling because they are not a full line supplier. So Intuitive just needs to pull the same thing that Applied Medical did and you won’t count them against any compliance
