What is a spare position?Can someone give me an overview of what a spare position is like. Salary? Do the get hired full time? How long are you usually in a spare position before getting a full time position.

In the distant past spares were hired in high turnover geography's to minimize vacant territory coverage time. They were in training being paid regular salary and doing basically nothing in a Region Office until someone left or was terminated. The spares would then take over the vacant territory. Key is that the spare had no say in the geography assigned eg close to current home or well away from current home. Be careful!What is a spare position?
I keep a spare in every city I travel for business. No one wants to attend happy hour alone.The spare geography is not what it used to be. You may have to travel alot with no guaranteed spot. If they are you the position any position, you are required to take it even if it not close to home.
