Southern California Bogus Bonus Plan

Can somebody tell me why the southern california SME's are estimated to make 60-80K in bonus this year? I've made less than 10K in bonus and have brought in over 200K of new business. This is total BS. Why don't the SDE's or KAE's have a decent plan this year. Thanks to whoever you are.

KV has brought on so much new capitated business, how can LabCorp - So.California be making any money. That business is priced so low and has so many specimens, we have to get an unrealistic amount of FFS business to make this kind of business make any sense.

Oh, and why are we pricing our cap rates so low? Quest is doubling their cap rates, and KV proposes rates that save the IPA money from their original rates.

KV is turning us into LabWest, high specimen volume, but no profit. The end result will be management will have to make draconian cuts (layoffs, no interfaces, PSC closures) in order to make any profit.

I used to work for Quest. He did the same thing there. And why do you think he came to LabWest (formerly Westcliff)? He hadn't been there long before he brought them the same capitated accounts that Quest dropped .LOL I heard that
Westcliff was loosing so much money on those capitated accounts because they didn't really do any financial analysis. It was costing more to perform some tests than they were charging the client. What made it so bad was when it was Westcliff, it was sold to a private equity firm who leveraged it out. It did not take long before they had lost some major business. In comes K. with his cheap cast offs from Quest. The test vp;i,e grew. bit they could not even cover operating costs, let alone the payments to GE. So what else is new?

Now everything is done on the cheap and cheezy including the management who are mindless dones just following orders and passing the buck. And yes, layoffs while the remaining employees do twice the work. Is there any wonder why there are so many mistakes?
Like I said, what else is new?

You don't know what you are talking about. Kip putting on IPA's has nothing to do with a Sales Rep commission. I would be shocked if you really are a Sales Rep in So. CA. who put on $200,00 and you saying this. Most Service & Sales Rep don't really understand the Sales Comp Plan. It's done this way by design I'm sure, but if you have $200,00 YTD in new sales, you want to know where your money is and you understand the Comp Plan. You don't mix it up with Kip putting on IPA's. California is going the way of IPA's with or with out Kip. So don't blame Kip for IPA's. I think most would agree that Kip is awful and he treats people awful. If he doesn't have a need for you, or he thinks you are in his way, or you question him or disagree with him you better watch out. He will bully you and bad mouth you, even if it's made up until you are gone. He's the king when it comes to this sort of thing.

Could not have said it better, myself. That is exactly what is happening.

Just who are you responding to? Nowhere in the first post was there a mention of IPA's.

Kip and his weeble wobble's won't fall down. The IPA's don't pay shit for the reps. How would you like to be a Genzyme rep and know that you won't get paid commission because Kip and his clan messed up. The IPA's won't pay for any Genzyme tests and Kip can't figure out how to combat the issues. Hence, Genzyme reps get screwed while Kip laughs to the bank. So yes, IPA's are killing LabCorp's long term longevity. Heidi Watson will be busy for sure. Lol.

Sure IPAs affect our bonuses. When Quest and LC trade IPA's back and forth, the rep's and their bonuses are affected.

We get a Lakewood IPA, and simultaneously lose the Cedar's IPA. The company doesn't grow in that transaction and we don't make our bonus when we lose an IPA (outside of our control or work efforts) and we make huge bonuses when we get an IPA (sometimes outside of our control or selling efforts).

Every rep hopes they have the territory that lands an IPA and hope they don't have the territory that loses an IPA. If an IPA quits in my territory, then I don't make bonus, and my future employment is at risk.

Well then my friend, you are not in control of your career now, are you? just hoping the chips fall in your favor.

That is so funny. I used to work for Kip back in the day. Some people don't change. He is probably the most disrespected person in the lab business. Bar none. So glad to get out of lab but device ain't too much better right now. Crazy world we live in. Count your blessings and be thankful if you're making any bonus you California kooks.
