Soccer field & Amphitheater

How many of you know about the new company soccer field and amphitheater that are being built just outside of building 28? With an average workforce age of 45, who is going to be using these innovation driving tools? Could it be that we are all going to be replaced soon by the twenty somethings just out of college? Really, who is going to be able to utilize one soccer field when there are over 10,000 employees down town. They'll need a full time medical staff on standby when all the old out of shape execs try to prove themselves on the field. Will Lady GaGa be the opening act at the new amphitheater? Maybe they can rehire some of the reallocated ones to serve drinks and popcorn at the soccer games and concerts.

I don't get it. We're suppose to be spending Lilly money as if it were our own. Keeping all expenses low, while millions are being spend on the new company bar, soccer field, amphitheater, greenways, and on and on. I guess LCC will make a really great recreation park once the pipeline dries up. Nothing like decorating the deck as the ship is sinking. At least we'll go down in style.

Precisely. Drive out those over 45, and you have an excellent array of soccer players. Yes, I take sole credit for this idea too. It was inspired by, shall we say, a sense of globalism. Likewise with the ampitheater. There I wish to recreate my days at Harvard, watching the classic tragedies.

It was all announced at a Facilities Town Hall yesterday. There's another one tomorrow from 12pm to 1pm in the 48 Auditorium. Anyone can come. The amphitheater is suppose to hold 500. And there's more. A building just for those who bicycle or run to work. The building will have a place for the bikes, showers and small classrooms for fitness classes. This is no joke, but the company is.

Any amount of cash flow can be leveraged, as we learned from Ken during the Enron heyday.

Build it, and they will come.

Yes, Ken sat on our Board of Directors. He taught us Texas-style empire building. Not over yet
 












What will the urban decay anthropologists think when they see all of this extravagance where a once great, but tragic company was suppose to find great medical cures &treatments? They will find the facade and think it might have been a place of noble pursuit, but the bar, amphitheater and soccer field will probably just confuse them.
 












None of you really get it, do you?

Build it and they will come. The soccer field will attract young graduates from whom we can extract 10-15 of the best years of their lives, prior to spitting them out. They won't expect retirement... they have SOCCER.

As for the amphitheatre, that's for you to figure out.
