So What Do HSP Pump Reps Do Now???

Talking to our customers about our super smart management team and how we save them tons of money by outsourcing all device development and production jobs to countries 1000s of miles from the USA rarely known for product quality but great for call centers

Hopefully they kept development and testing in the USA (Chicago, San Diego) for that program as the cost savings of moving those functions offshore has not worked out well for all of the other programs

It is easy to blame everything on Costa Rica, but it is a lot more than that. Hospira was having recalls, production stoppages, even before the move overseas.

We have a new product going through 510k slated for a launch this year.

If you mean Sapphire, Hospira did not buy it, will only distribute it. Do not expect it to hit the sales team until 3Q13 or 4Q13. By then Hospira will have no reputation left and everything will have to start from scratch, which will take years to build. All started going downhill when we left Abbott

No offense, but enjoy the COE trip management while the house burns. You earned it! ;). How about that compensation adjustment you said would be available??? Wait on that too?

PS: Your DTS team is on the hunt for a new gig!

PSS: Enjoy the trip half nuts!!

HAHAHA!! The "half nut" reference must be to the LPCA recall letter!!! Clever my friend, clever. Everyone I talk to is looking. Used to love this company but my customers are telling me and other reps to get out.

What happened to LPCA? I thought this pump, unlike the others, was bulletproof. At least it doesn't generate bubbles!

No they weren't--- we were making great pumps (not Symbiq) in Cali Then we put good quality American workers out of a job and shipped everything to Costa Rica.

Yes, but it was at a different, earlier stage in the products' manufacturing lifecycle and the US had better access to technical help. Are we sure the problems in CR are all workmanship related? Anyway, if they transfer the work back up to the US or somewhere else, we'll soon find out.

What we've always done....nothing.

Its OK. There is not a lot of profit in the pumps. The tube sets is where the company makes its money. Its doubtful they break even with every pump sold.

Wouldn't be surprised if Hospira eventually gets out of the pump business altogether and just concentrate on IV drugs and tube sets.

Yeah, When and IF we can get these plants back on line.
