slow drug launch

maybe a Keryx sales rep can help me answer this question.

Why such a slow launch? on average, IMS is showing 158 New scripts per week since launch.

158 / 60 reps = 2.6 new scripts per week per rep.

how can this be.. Is it an insurance coverage issue? co-pay issue? doctor issue w / the drug?

any insight is GREATLY appreciated

Hey ass wipe, should be no surprise to you that the drug is a piece of shit. We can't give it away for free and the marketing plan was a joke from the beginning. Operations management has lost some key people, well key is an understatement, friends of the CEO get hired then fired, we are told to hang on because things will get better. Don't see a future here and most reps. I know are looking to get out ASAP. GM is not a leader, guess he is doing the best he can to sell such a POS and that I'll admit he works hard but no matter how hard you work if it is a POS then it will sell like it's a POS. Can you post that in your next Seeking Alpha article.

Please explain why the drug is "POS". The majority of responses I've seen have been very good. Curious to hear about your experiences.

Are you taking your medication as RX by your doctor? Why don't you try it and then listen to what the rest of the nephrology community is TRUTHFULLY talking about. Tell Baupost their investment was a waste of money but go lightly on Seth we don't want him doing something rash.

This post must be from one of the crazies on the Yahoo board. They are looking for any answers they can as to why the stock is diving. Its the management first and competitive landscape as the person above stated. Bigger companies are in rock solid with insurance with rebates.

competitive binder payer contracts are rock solid. Aggressive rebates and terms won't allow Keryx to play. No access no sell.

Obviously, you don't see the big picture.

If and once ND-label is there, the patients in stage 4 and 5 and on the threshold of dialysis can be targeted. A big head start before these other binders have a chance.

Sales leadership won't even talk about performance during the interview process. It's common knowledge about 1.8mm in sales during Q2, but this just further reinforces the lack of ownership and / or accountability. No answers about current performance, perf YTD, etc. A laid back attitude won't cut it at this point - That's a steep cliff to climb. 30 more reps and 3 RSMs may be too little too late. Best of luck to all.

You seem hopeful to get out of the ship that lies at the bottom of the ocean, soon the air will run out. "ND-label is here" other binders have tried to get this indication and their data was rock solid meeting endpoints. Already 30-35% of binder utilization is already within CKD3-4, KERYX comes along with a high priced option, see the future as payers will say no way.

Kool-Aid tastes good for the first few times but you need to stop putting Everclear in yours.

That additional label won't be here until at least end of 2016 into 2017. By then Renvela will have generic on the market. Too late for any real impact especially with insurance companies

Auryxia has been targeted for a long time to be the replacement when Renvela goes generic. Sanofi will scoop this up, change the name and price it to move. With all the relationships in place, it will be next big thing. Don't tell Seth Klarman I told you this info..

The Great Karnak says, "Please stop drinking and it would be typical for Sanofi to pick this drug up as they are known to buy crap companies."

Can't give this shit away. Worst drug launch I've been involved with ever. Dr's are not buying what we have to sell and are pretty much set on Renvela and Calcium
If the new indications come in abut 18 months-then we may have a drug that's worth its weight.

The launch is 75% reps that have no clue and 25% docs who won't change no matter what.

This is the most embarrassing sales team ever assembled.

Bad reps who don't know what they are doing = no sales. The drug is good, the salesforce has no business in this arena. A monkey could sell better, whoever hired these losers needs to be fired asap.

Agreed. The reps and the managers that hired them are a bunch of morons. Pathetic. Now these same reps will move on to relypsa and screw that launch up too. A year from now we will be having the same conversation about relypsa.

How stupid do you have to be to really believe that the reps "screwed up" this launch? Obviously the issues are much larger - These same reps had extremely successful track records prior to joining this pathetic company. Many of the good ones have already left or are actively seeking other opportunities. Some regions have had 75% turnover. I'm sure your response to this post will most likely be "Good - They can bring in better reps". Do you really think talented individuals who have choices will come here? We will get unemployed inexperienced reps with no relationships and no access which will only compound the current issues.

WHAT PLANET DO YOU COME FROM? ARE YOU TELLING ME THAT GOOD REPS HAVE RELATIONSHIPS AND THAT WARRANTS THEM GETTING IN TO SEE THE DOC? OH PLEASE. STOP IT!!!!! DOC'S DONT NEED REPS ANY LONGER. THEY GET NOTHING FOR FREE ANY LONGER, NO TRIPS, NO DINNERS OUT WITH THE WIFEY. NOTHING!!!!!! THE NEW HEALTHCARE SYSTEM WILL SLOWLY DISSOLVE THE REP AND THE BUSINESS MODEL. THE PHARMACY DIRECTORS CANT WAIT FOR THE FULL COURT PRESS TO GET RID OF THE REPS. NOW GO BACK TO YOUR HOME OFFICE AFTER WORKING 2 HOURS AND DO YOUR EXPENSE REPORT FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!

Thanks to you reps no one will want to come here. Our current inexperienced reps with no relationships and no access will be replaced by the same. Of course the problems at Keryx are much bigger than just the reps but they did nothing to help the situation. Yes we have lost some good ones. As far as the ones that are actively seeking other opportunities they are the same ones that have been whining and complaining for the last 6 months and they are still here. They obviously aren't that good or they would be gone by now. Hopefully they will be leaving to relypsa. Good riddance!
