Six Sigma Blackbelt

She is in damage control. I have spoken to no less than 20 people who have received LinkedIn requests from her and they laughed their tails off. She is truly clueless and classless. I can't imagine a venue where her cheesy persona and elementary 'leadership' stories would be well received. 100% of the audience will have had more success in life and business than she has, along with a more compelling journey.

Also, can someone please tell her that Six Sigma is a manufacturing concept that got bastardized by 'development vendors' to sell as a training platform to stupid and lazy training departments...also it is not even regarded as a very good process management philosophy.

Talk to someone who actually works in manufacturing and they will laugh if you tell them they have Six Sigma courses for sales people...dumb drug companies will buy anything with a catchy name. Think "Challenger" selling model.

If she really is an black belt than if
you try to knock her you'll get mocked.
She’ll stir fry you in her wok. Your knees'll start shakin' and your fingers pop like a pinch on the neck of Mr. Spock.

Always haters out there. But the challenger sales model is one of the best I use it all the time.

Derm????? You are a loser!!!! Oncology reps laugh at you primary care wannabes. Six Sigma has been debunked by all the major MBA programs...keep drinking the Kool Aid.
Debunked? Please provide a link to academic studies that support your statement.

It is a toolbox that can be used or misused like anything else. It provides a disciplined approach to problem-solving in SOME cases. When you are in a passive-aggressive environment like Lilly, it really does not matter what approach you use. You will end up with a "Branchburg, New Jersey" problem, which you clowns have no idea how serious this is going to be. The FDA does not hand out OAIs like speeding tickets, rather like one every three or four years. The DOJ and the SEC will soon be involved if not already. How about these gems:

"The three sources who spoke to Reuters requested that their names be withheld so they could speak freely without fear of retaliation.

Inspectors who visited the Lilly plant in Branchburg, New Jersey, last November found that data on the plant’s various manufacturing processes had been deleted and not appropriately audited, government inspection documents show."

At any rate, how do those MAJOR MBA programs address the fear of retaliation and destruction of documents?

And Lilly management can’t claim they didn’t know Branchburg was a quality disaster across the board, not just in manufacturing. Some of what they did in R&D documentation was pathetic.

Just google ‘Six Sigma Debunked’. I did. There are too many to count references from reputable businesses publications and professors about it.

Some of the WORST managers I know are Six Sigma black belts. 'Nuff said!

Big Pharma will buy anything from any “training and development” vendor. Six Sigma was/is a manufacturing philosophy that was licensed out to ‘training’ vendors to sell to all functions of an organization regardless if it made sense or not for they functional area. It’s so lame and as a manufacturing system it is outdated and has been by and large replaced. There is no real application to any other functional area. It’s basically Scientology for business.

When John L. bought into it, the big selling point was "this is what worked for Motorola" -- but Lilly does not make phones and electronics! This is no way to get around the fact that the "hard skills" are required to do good science. HR would like to think that it's all about charm and manipulative communication, it is not.

Debunked or "We have something else we want to sell you!"

It is not possible to debunk good project management, proper measurement, design of experiments, lean manufacturing etc.

A "professor" can repackage the same methods and sell it as new and improved, sort of like Pharma marketing teams. Or, they can run their mouths about "disruptive innovation" versus "continuous improvement". Go look at WeWork for "disruptive innovation". I was in one of their hell-hole offices until the pandemic. Lock them up, lock them up!

So, maybe Six Sigma is an evil phrase and led to the madness I witnessed at Lilly where it facilitated the passive-aggressive culture, and to make sure some useless hack could check the block to get promoted. However, the actual tools are timeless and must be applied judiciously.

There is now a similar movement in IT development known as "Agile". Just another buzzword for consultants to sell stuff.

Clearly you did not do your research. 6S is outdated as a manufacturing philosophy and most manufacturers have moved to more modern processes. Look it up.

Hard to believe we hire such ignorant people...

Six Sigma isn't outdated and is the gold standard. Applies to sales too. If your customer will pay for it do more of it, if they don't value it do less and do just enough for compliance. Our best people at this company are six sigma trained- that is fact. At least the ones left.
