Actually I've been hearing rumblings recently this past week. Not sure an acquisition is what zimmer should be doing right now but Lyons did leave to go there. Whether the two are connected no clue.

Why the question? google it:
Terry Corbin is a clinical research consultant specializing in technology for back and neck pain
I only ask about Mr. Corbin because of his proximity to Zimmer Spine headquarters and his involvement with Amedicas trials; trials that were conducted by Zimmer consulting surgeons Mark P. Arts & Jasper Wolf. I was curious if he has done any work for Zimmer in the past.

Arts & Wolf arent the only surgeons to work with Amedica. Theres also. Dr. Paul Saiz Dr. Suh. I havent been able to find any connection between Giuseppe Pezzotti & Zimmer yet. Altthough he has done some testing on Zimmers Vit E poly liners which Amedica is currently testing with their 2nd gen femoral head; Pezzotti also works with Amedica.

From my research this feels very similar to when Zimmer purchased Implex in 2003 for material marketed as "Trabecular Metal". From the various product recalls ive seen i take it performance of the material was not up to par.

HAHAHA...not up to par??? Where have you been the last 10 years? Have you seen the hundreds of studies showing the benefits of TM. In the hospitals in my territory where I have little business, there is still one thing all the competitive guys use and thats Trabecular Metal. While some of the other porous metals have closed the gap in the last few years there is not a single knock on TM. 5 years ago the only knock the competition had was that "its really expensive". While there may have been a few design flaws of products containing TM, it certainly wasnt the TM itself that was the issue. Go find something else to start rumors on.....

Where have you been the last few months???
Trabecular metal is about to be another short lived product. There are a few companies that have products coming out or allready out that have better results then TM. If you don't believe me just wait a few months. By the end of the year you will most likely see these products. 3D printing technology has come a long long way in a short time, and it's about to really mess that TM market up for you guys. Hope Zimmer is keeping you up to date on what to expect soon.

everyone has or will have 3D printing for ingrowth within 2 years. Look at Cucalo's new company, they have had it for over 10 years. The one thing that separates TM from others is it's abilities to halt/reduce infection (there is a great paper on it), this is the only reason why it is still paid for at the premium price. But with new 3D printing comes new abilities to add new infection resistant properties or antibiotic impregnated implants. TM probably has a good 5 years left. The ability to reduce infection will be the next great frontier but it is closer than you know.......

Si3N4 is not only resistant to bacteria its also has antibiotic properties without the need to add silver or antibiotics to it. Thus Si3N4 has a clear advantage over current product offerings.

Smith and Nephews Redapt killed my TM business almost overnight. Had a tough hip case where the Doc called his partner in to help and he brought a new system in with him. I still got my liner cemented in their cup but my doc is making the switch anyways. Long story short it took one case and years of my TM business is gone. For those that aren't ready for this get ready, because TMs days of easy money are about to be gone for you to. If it isn't SN it is one of the other ones about to get ya.
