Should She Have Been Fired?

It's raining here in Ipanema and after a half day of walking in the rain while my girlfriend window shopped, I decided to check in. We talked this one over. I consider my self moderately liberal on some issues and conservative on others. Also my daughter is a HS teacher. With that said, HS teachers have to hold themselves to a different standard. This is an inconvenient truth. And where is Pocatello HS? If it's in Idaho, this would be predictable.

HOW FUCKING EVER - when we read the part about the boob grabee being a coach at the same HS and merely getting a reprimand, we both about barfed. This is the good ol' boys club at work and what is fair for one should be fair for all. Either BOTH get fired of BOTH get reprimanded. My guess is that some administrators who viewed this had some erections they couldn't deal with.

Anyway, speaking of boobs, the bathing suits here are very nice. And they show more ass than they do boobs which is fine with me. I think Wonka would LOVE this place if he could only learn to say ETA in Portuguese.

Vag is right. There needs to be consistency. They both need to be fired.

This sort of inappropriate behavior cannot be tolerated where kids are
concerned. If this is tolerated, it will lead to trouble on down the line. Teachers should be above reproach and this applies even to "off hours"
activities.

She's fired for having a pretty tame picture of her boyfriend's hand on her chest? How ridiculous. This isn't even fine-worthy, let alone fire-worthy. At worst, the school should have just politely asked them to take down the photo, and reminded them of whatever social media policies they have in place.

A number of parents have even come to her defense . . .

I thought she took it down. Anyway, again - yeah it was pretty harmless (boobs are touched every episode of DWTS) but I think the kids in her class will be talking more about that than the subject so I'm half in, half out. Again, community standards in Pocatella are probably different than other places. For example, men can go top;ess (he was) and women can't. My main point wasn't as much the firing - as it was the inconsistency and the good ol' boys club once again running the show.

How ridiculous is it going to be if her students start emulating her "tame"
behavior while on campus?

She displayed very poor judgement and apparently fails to understand the example she sets for the students.

The slippery slope argument is generally a valid one and applies here.

She got 'busted'.

The one that kills me more than this one is the one about the quadriplegic in Colorado (where pot is 100% legal) who just got fired for testing positive for it and he works out of his home. He had a doctor's orders use it to help him get over a spinal cord injury. Since I'm only using a macbook and don't know how to copy the link, I can't post it but - that one is not only WRONG - it' sick.

I saw that story and here is the link:

It is a crime what they did to that man - given what he has had to endure.

then why did they not apply the same rule and punishment to the coach?

I agree with you but the Feds might have a little something to
say about the legality of pot in Colorado.

Hell yes. The "War on Drugs," is a direct off-shoot of the Military-Industrial Complex, and an expensive joke. The Jack-boots that try and defend it, are laughable Goobers.

That's what they're claiming but if you go that route (feds rules trump state rules) then for consistency sake, you have to let the feds overrule the recent law Gov Perry signed in Texas. You can't have it both ways.

States can pass laws that are MORE restrictive than federal but not LESS restrictive. The mj laws are in violation of federal law.
o likes mj so has ordered that the state mj law changes be ignored.

what does this have to do with pics of a booby grab?

Please see post #3.

Once again, you seem to be strangely motivated in the wrong areas and strangely lacking in motivation in the areas that should command your attention.
your snotty, arrogant response still doesn't address 'why' and neither did your reply in #3. you remain the one most strangely motivated.

The "why" is not my department. Unlike some around here, I don't put myself up
as a mind reader. I am just on the record for consistency and fairness. Why did you address the question to me? Vag was the first one to bring up the double standard. I was merely agreeing with him that it was wrong.

As to your characterization of my response, all I can think is: projection.

ok asshole, I made the mistake of responding to your post #6. you seemed to have been behaving better since your multiple stints in internet jail. only wanted your take on why the punishment of one participant and not the other. after thinking about, I think it is because SHE did the posting of the pic.

Sorry, but it doesn't wash. I'm nothing but fair to other posters here. I also have a policy of dealing with people (to a certain degree) the way they deal with me. Treat me with respect, I treat you with respect, but it's the other poster's call. I'll play the game anyway they want.

I interpreted your question as an attack. If it was an honest question, that's different. I had the same thought you did. The only rational basis for differing punishments is that she posted the picture. Otherwise, it seems sexist.

Another one of my beliefs is that it's never too late to start over. If you want to turn the page and move on to a more amiable relationship, I think that's great.

I'll be happy to quit assuming the negative about you if you'll do so in return.
