Should I work here?

I am currently interviewing with Amarin and am deciding if it would be a good fit for me. What do you like about working here? What is the culture like? What is the car reimbursement? Are bonuses paid out monthly or quarterly?

It depends on where you are currently and what your situation is. Personally, I love working here. Cafepharma brings out some boneheads that will trash this place though so you'll have to sift through that. Culture is performance driven. If you can't be effective then they will eventually push you out. But there are plenty of opportunities to make good money here in bonus and contests. People will complain about base salary. Its alittle low for a team that is tasked with moving specialists but we are predominantly a primary care driven sales force with roughly 20% specialty in our territories. Some have a bigger piece of specialty, for instance in the big cities. They expect us to work and grow the product which is fairly easy once you get past managed care hurdles. It's a great drug with great data. Bonus comes out quarterly along with quarterly contests to earn more money. Usually paid out 60 days after the quarter ends. Car reimbursement is pretty good, you get mileage reimbursement as well as a car allowance. Car allowance differs over territory depending on size. Mileage reimbursement fluctuates each month depending on gas cost averages I think. It amounts to around 22 or 23 cents per mile usually. Good luck.

Go on your phone, download the MMIT coverage app. Look up Vascepa's coverage in your state. If it's less than 60% your quota will probably be too high to hit unless you have some DAMN good relationships you're walking in the door with.

I’d wait until the Generic Patent Case is decided. If we lose, which is a strong possibility, there will be major layoffs. Something just doesn’t feel right around here even though they try to keep it positive. But, something is just not right.

If you just got laid off, Yes. Stay a year.
If you are trying to get into pharma , Yes. Stay a year.
If you are in pharma, look elsewhere. Look at the stock and you decide.
Good luck.

A strong possibility? What are you smoking? There is not a single person that can rationally state they think Amarin will lose the lawsuit. Please explain to me how you think that is a strong possibility, I think you meant to say there is an ever so slight possibility. Amarin has dumped a ton of cash, resources, time, and effort into developing Vascepa and proving it's efficacy and you somehow think a judge will let a generic come in and reap the benefits of their efforts. Not happening in this country. This is a hail mary attempt by the generics to not settle. In fact, I think Amarin doesn't want to settle this case to make a point to all the other companies that think they can try this stunt. They will win this suit and then the flood gates will be open. I would take this job in a heartbeat (no pun intended)

Nothing is ever a “sure bet” in this world. Wouldn’t hurt to have a Plan B just in case this doesn’t pan out. If we lose, this is an $8 company. Good Luck

I second that. Unless you are desperate, I would not accept an offer at Amarin especially in this climate
Apply elsewhere

What this person said! This is a homerun and everyone knows it.

I like your style...we could be brothers....why take pay from any job if your not going to do the BEST you can. So work hard and good things will follow...people who HIRE like people with good outlook in life and not what 80% on this board are.....CRYBABIES....they get their "Itty Bitty Feelings"....hurt so easy.

“Work hard and good things will follow.” Did you say this with a straight face? Will hard work keep you from getting downsized? Will hard work protect you from a Psycho manager who has it in for you? Will hard work overcome a territory where you have 0 access or Horrible Managed Care coverage?

Your one of the 80% crybabies, lets be clear on that. It's one win a day. I can tell by your attitude that this is passed on to the office staff, and other reps who will listen.
Plus, your way is NO win. If you do the BEST you can, good things will follow, and some of those walls will come down. Plus when working hard, other companies and managers will notice and want to hire you. That's what happened to me twice. Get it, now put your Kleenex away and put you BIG boy panties on, and do the right thing.

Let’s be clear on this...When ZS Consulting is hired to cut 30% across the board and the criteria is based on avoiding Lawsuits, no amount of Hard Work or Kissing Butt will save you buddy. The only thing that will follow is maybe a severance and a trip to the Unemployment Office.

What do you think of the benefits?

I like the health insurance. Cost is low for a family compared to other companies I've been with. Also the plan actually covers you unlike others where you pay alot out of pocket. 401k match could definitely be better and I do like the ESPP but it has a serious flaw in that you only get 15% off during the first trading date and last trading date of that period. You get the 15% off the lowest between those 2 dates. Other companies I have been with also consider all of the dates in between. So say in this current period, our stock was $20 a share in December on first day, and maybe $18 in may on the last day, you get 15% off of $18 per share. But the thing that sucks is the stock went as far down as $13...and we cannot capitalize on that.
