Self Dealing Leadership

BIO People,

How is it not a conflict of interest that the person hired to lead Diagnostics and Digital Health at BIOTRONIK bills himself on LinkedIn as an "investor" in Bardy Diagnostics -- a company that currently sells a cardiac patch but is close to launching a loop recorder later this year?

I'm positive that he'll do the right thing and divest his interest in this company BEFORE they are selling against us right?

lol, that's par for the course at BIO! i'm sure some of you all remember a few of the BIO business partnerships past and how those deals were "tangled" with the personal finances of some key leadership figures... not at all new that's for sure but part of the reason why the rest of the industry considers us dirty. this kind of stuff wouldn't be tolerated by the blue chip CRM companies. frankly, i'm not sure how even BIO gets away with this given our own updated business standards. perhaps there is a different standard for the chiefs vs. the rest of us.

That's the one... among others. Company track record in these areas is rather dismal. They should stick with what they know but I hear rumors that BIO looking into partnering with yet another cardiac patch company and even thinking about making our own wearable or watch. Amusing (or insane) that BIO thinks it could compete with Apple or Google. Only play would be to license our secret sauce (if there is any) to the big boys and collect the royalties.

I heard Ken Nelson is trying to convince Max to buy the Bardy patch. Wonder if that was part of his deal leaving Bardy that he'd get a bigger slice of the action if he helped find a distributor or buyer for the company at the next stop on his tour of C-list CRM companies.

Dude is smokin' crack if he thinks he's going to convince Max to buy any CRM product (or company) for that matter. I've been with BIO for 12 years and the only thing I've seen Max buy has been historic real estate in Berlin and some first off the line BMW models. BIO doesn't "acquire" products - it's completely focused on homegrown tech which will be its downfall. You can't take 5-years to develop a product in this market, not when your competing against the other CRM companies and tech giants like Google and Apple who do acquire companies/products. At best it might sign distribution agreements to sell other companies products but those deals have always limped along or failed outright...

PeerBridge
ZeroGravity
Aziyo
Infobionic

and that's only the list from the last 5 years...

No doubt BIO will continue to find pockets of customers here and there but it will become increasingly irreverent as its innovation lags the rest of the industry by years.

It’s paying off more than you could ever conceive little man

For whom? BIO? I think not. Asking a CRM rep to sell capital equipment is like asking Mike Tyson to lead NASA's return to the moon. Both stand an equal chance of success. The average CRM rep is simply not disciplined enough to endure a 12+ month sales cycle. There will be some successes for sure, but I'd wager that this deal with Acutus gets nixed in no more than 18 months.

What a stupid analogy. Asking some jealous loser to analogize the Acutus and Biotronik relationship is like asking someone simple to do something complex.
