"packaging issues"......sure, been waiting for this product for ever & we can't even get out of the blocks for a week before "packaging issues"? I bet 50% chance it's a bigger quality issue & we get hosed on all of these promises of a great 2011

Well duh! What has happened to our quality? I didn't even mention it to my buyers because I was waiting to see what problems it had. Glad I didn't. Saves me having to wipe more egg off my face.

You idiots...you absolute idiots. You make my job fun just watching your failures. You guys have been talking about this thing for 2 years. You had a huge launch, showed it at ACS, speakers and the whole deal. Flew the entire sales force to the launch meeting, put Inc., and EES on it, and now what? 2 weeks after launch goes on recall and is now delayed another, 3-6 months.

Its comical!!

Sad but true.....gonna take a "wait & see" after relaunch....can't risk my credibility any more

Doesn't matter if it was one week or two. The point is, we have some definate quality issues that need to be addressed. We can bitch all we want about the competition but the truth is, we need to clean house and start over. Our PD folks spend so much time kissing ass to keep their jobs they don't have time to focus on the real issues - designing better products for us to sell. sad.

It was supposed to be a joke

I am a rep at ethicon and yes secure strap is junk and will not be launched until june july, also phyiso mesh the be all mesh might go on recall as well, I just heard today. our mesh is priced way to high we have a new dermabond product that is coming out called prineo this product was launched in europe and canada and failed in both markets so why not shove it down our throats. its dermabond with a piece of mesh that costs 150 per vial instead of dermab ond which is 24 bucks hospitlals will love the price increase in this booming economy as well as no data to back anything up.
Oh yeah and the best part is our new comp plan less products more backorders higher quotas all for half the pay of last year. I will work hard for you ethicon, I usually work about 3-4 days a week with some computer time at night but this year Its looking like about 1 day a week untill you pay me what I am worth

I don't think securestrap is junk but I agree to the rest of the post especially the comp plan.

I think most reps are looking at it the job as the Platinum Unemployment Plan. Because you have your base to partially cover rent. A company cell phone to take calls from recruiters, a company computer to build your resume, a company fax, copy, scanner to distrubute the resume and a company car to get you to the interviews. Now that there is no way fathomable to hit plan you just stay home and work on getting that next gig.

Management is so out of touch. They think that by increasing growth forecast and cutting commissions in half that we will work harder! Boy are they in for an awakening. Only reps with less than a year experience who don't know yet that they are getting it up the ars are out in the field now. And even they will figure it out in a quarter or so.

I don't know any Ethicon Products reps who aren't interviewing right now.

Hernia fixation, Absorbatack, Sorbafix, Securestrap

I'm an investor in the medical device space. I'm trying to understand the "real" pros/cons among the various hernia fixation players. Between Absorbatack and Sorbafix, is there a clear winner? Has anyone seen Securestrap in action or have an opinion on how it compares to what's out there? Thanks to anyone willing to reply and help me with my analysis/homework.

You're an investor and you're looking for information that'll lead to a financial decision from an anonymous forum? Wow. Good luck with that.

No, I didn't say information from this forum would lead to a financial decision. I was hoping to get real-world opinions from reps on the products in this space. But thanks for the completely meaningless response.

Excellent product. SecureStrap and Physio are the best products in the hernia market, hands down.

Securestrap looks like it works well in lap ventrals & it will certainly gain marketshare, but it is TBD about "best product in market'....Pysiomesh on the other hand is a bust....it's been out for an incredibly short period of time & is experiencing a tremendous high % of complications relative to it's level of usage....the FDA database on device failures is indicative of the fact that the design is flawed both in mesh weight & in construction (it's too light/weak & gets no in-growth).....

You have no clue. Just some pissed off Covidien or Bard rep. Don't worry, I'm sure that you can find a new job selling shoes or something. I have been in a lot of cases with both Strap and Physio, and they are kicking butt. I have not seen any recurrences.

I will be the first to admit, I interviewed for a position with this division and got past over. Thank God. A blessing in disguise. And to think I was truly upset that I didn't get the job. Good things do happen for a reason. I would suggest looking for a med device job. Pays very well if you work hard. You don't get the car and cell phone and laptop, but the earning potential is huge (more then lousy ethicon would ever think of paying you guys). The only thing is you have to go out and sell. Commission only. It's scary, but if your a true sales rep (not that shi*tty consultent title that ethicon puts on your biz cards) you can kill it.

BTW, it's not just ethicon having recall issues. it's all of jnj. just ask your sisters over at Depuy. They are getting murdered over there.

mesh is a commidity anyways. nothing sexy about. thanks god I got passed over. thank god. I hope those managers that were in the interview process have some vaseline to help unpucker their asses. I can sit back and laugh and wait to they relocated to sutures. love it.

How do you like us now??? Market leader in absorbable hernia mesh fixation devices and putting AbsorbaTack and SorbaFix in the crapper.

Check the Maude database. Securestrap is a dangerous device with many complications and even a few deaths associated with it. The more it is used, the faster it will be recalled.
