Seattle site to close in 2012













Amgen has made it pretty clear over the years that research is not a valued endeavor and that management believes they can fill the pipeline through licensing and acquisitions. It is sad to watch what was once a supremely talented research organization be slowly dismantled under leadership that values quarterly earnings over serving patients.
 












This site is far too valuable to close, the innovation at this site is unparalleled.
There are other smaller, leased sites, with less innovation and productivity that will close.

Unlike AWA, those other sites are in biotech hubs. Not sure if Seattle will close in 2012, but if you had to pick 1 of the 3 major satellite research sites, it's the obvious choice. Our new management feels the same way.
