I agree it doesn't make a difference of your final outcome but I have heard several of my dm counterparts express a different set of beliefs when it comes to their staff who apply

If you apply and don't get it you are screwed
About 15% of current bhbu reps will be placed in cbu post vtp , those will be in dissolved territories. If you territory is dissolved and you posted but we're turned down you will be it'd. Play the odds and don't post . Not sb but someone who has seen project atlas

If that is the case, why not offer these jobs to current BCBU reps instead of making them interview for it? We all have a good idea which territories will be collapsed. Let's start with those reps.

If only common sense would apply ..... yeah no, not here we don't do common sense we hire a sales force to sit on its arse for over a year before a product is launched then a few years down the line we fire them all. Geniuses .. Do they at the top ever face the music, nah just fire away much easier.
