Say Something Positive Thread

I know this thread will get ruined either sooner or later (most likely sooner) by the people that just generally always feel the need to post "you're an idiot" to EVERY THREAD. But, I'll try. If you read this forum with any kind of regularity you would think that Shire was this awful "concentration-camp" kind of company, and our jobs are constantly in jeopardy. I wonder if there are people on here that post some positives about their jobs. I am not an RD. Rather, I am someone who recently took a position with the company, and am excited about the company I work for, the opportunities I have for advancement, and the overall attitude the people I work with have.

Because you are a recent hire you know and see all the great things here at Shire. I too came from another company a few years back and can definitely agree with how good it is. Plus it is getting better with all of the positive changes that have taken place lately.

This is a great company and we promote medications that help people. I am encouraged by how upper management at least listens and considers our ideas to improve the sales process.

However, upward mobility is not a strength at Shire. I would say it's a severe downfall of the organization.

Other than lack of advancement, Shire is a good company to work for (depending on your RD and ZD of course; your direct leadership will make or break you)

just curious what type of upward mobility are you speaking of and from which perspective rep, field manager or in house? my observation is many people in field - rep or rd - are not looking to move up especially if it means moving to wayne pa.

The operative thought here is that you are new. Give yourself some te to settle in. I liked my job for a good stretch. Then new management moved in. Everything changed.
Shire has one of the highest employee attrition. There is a reason for this.

I like this thread. I've decided to stop reading the negative stuff because it just makes me mad and demotivates me. I'm glad to work at Shire, we have great products in ADHD and very little competition. There is always BS in the corporate world but overall it's not that bad! The pay seems to be getting a little worse but our job is getting easier.

If you keep reading the negative stuff it will just make you misearable...how can you even sell when you're all pissed off at the company? Focus on the positive people!! :)

No competition from generics either? Only 10 or so other products... Woohoo cake job here baby! Job is getting easier? Please tell me where you work! Lol

Inevitably the haters had to come out. I think Shire is a great company with some great people, and some not so great people. But what company or what job doesn't have that? Sure we'd all like to make more money, and have easier schedules, and less demanding managers but again, what company has that? We'd all like to have less competition out there, easier call access and better coverage. But again, what company doesn't? Shire is doing well as a company. We are all doing well as employees. We have great benefits, 401k match, excellent opportunities are available to us should we want to go that route, and an overall good culture. We can think of how Shire "used to be" or what we want it to be, but if you really think about friends that work at other companies, and the complaints they have about their jobs, bosses, and pay we have it AT LEAST just as good, if not better. And I challenge anyone to argue that. Look around people. Talk to others. And stop bitching.

I'm not new here so don't assume that. I have been at Shire for 5+ years. Again, some days are mbetter than others. But overall, I am quite happy with my job and who I work for. And if you're not, leave. Go find that amazing job somewhere else. And in a few months, just think. You'll have something else to b1tch about on an online forum.

Sometimes we think the grass is greener but truth is, you never know what you've got til it's gone.
We should recognize that we are very blessed with a few things:
1. Shire has an amazing PAP, offices always tell me how much easier and quicker it is than any other company they have dealt with. The qualifications are very generous also. If you don't share this info with your offices, you are missing out!
2. Our MIRF process is better than other companies. One MD told me that the process to get a question answered was so tedious that he gave up after 2 months of back and forth! We may have to do an emirf first but after that they can speak with an MSL.
3. We get a lot of nice materials and tools for our offices. Most reps envy us because their companies don't give them anything!!

Be grateful people, we have a lot of things that make our job better than other pharma jobs.
