If you have the misfortune of not finding a job by November 3, make sure you look into these ways to save:

1. If you use AT&T, you may qualify for LifeLine, which is only about $25 a month for home phone service.
2. PG&E offers a discount for people with low incomes.
3. If you negotiate hard enough, you can get Comcast to give you a cheaper package.
4. Obamacare (ACA) plans may be a lot cheaper than COBRA. Call them ASAP to learn about their rates.
5. File for unemployment ASAP, because there is a one-week waiting period.

For any service you need, tell them that you are unemployed and ask if they offer a discount. Carry one of your unemployment pay stubs as proof.

Max out your flex healthcare spending. You can submit for the full yearly amount even if you are terminated early as long as the expense happens before your termination date. So, order your contact lenses and anything else now.

Fill up everything in your garage that needs gas, including those 5 gal lawnmower containers before they shut off your gas card.!
