sales rep is fired for sleepdriving

John Connelly is trash. He is a chronic liar and will throw anyone under the buss to protect himself. I was a peer. He stole my ideas. Presented as his own. Never went to work only on his silly little farm in Jersey.

Took credit for hiring everyone, especially those that lasted. The ones that were terminated he told people he knew it would happen. Phony. Untrustworthy. Protecting his pension and played the I have 10 kids and poor card to the hilt.

John - I hope you read this. You hurt a lot of people. I called you several times and you didn't even have the courtesy or should I say balls to call me back. You will get what you deserve.

The painful truth about this job: if you are too sick to do it, you WILL be fired. You will not get a break even from a company that wants the world to "be well." Laughable really. Sounds like the rep got himself a good attorney. The problem is that Merck and all big companies have all the time in the world. They can wait out death itself if need be.

What a douchebag - I hope this guy wins! I have narcolepsy (clinically established in one sleep study; proven to be under control via a controlled substance in a second whereby if it wasn't my license could be revoked). I have often wondered what would happen if I fell asleep while driving the company car, so I'm super diligent about the meds. The problem is they cause bad insomnia so I take regular Ambien - I've only done the sleepwalk thing once at a meeting and bought soup from the hotel sundry shop in my jammies! The rep was taking care of a medical condition and this manager violated his rights - if the police didn't press charges, what right did he have to go break into his personal medical records? HIPPA, anyone? Shouldn't that only be allowable in a criminal case and shouldn't only HR and senior managers be able to see this stuff?

Interesting case. Probably wise to file in state court and demand a jury trial. PP was on the mark about Merck's ability to delay and fight case until death of rep unfortunately. Can't believe what a sleazy company Merck is. If medical condition prevented rep from doing job, couldn't STD and LTD benefits apply? Seems company stated rep's condition prevented him from being able to perform his job. Isn't this grounds for disability? I'd use the courts to the max against these douche bags.

Fire this manager and stop the Bullshit.
