I have been trying to get into devices for a while now, but since most of the companies think lab sales is like pharma its been tough to even get an interview. I have one with Integra, but somewhat concerned when they said the average rep makes 70k!?!? Not sure I should even persue...is this really the case???

Thanks in Advance

What division? Some are stronger than others. You are most likely looking at an underperforming territory or an expansion @ 70k.

I am currently interviewing with Integra for a collagen sales position. I currently work for an awful device company where I make very little money.

I hate my current gig. I have read this board and I get it "many people are unhappy.". I was quoted 75k as total comp. Is that true?

I was quoted $90K for the same position. There is something strange going on here. I spoke to someone else who was told $50k. This company already sounds dishonest. Maybe it's best to stay away??

If you can't figure out on your own that territories are going to have varying amounts of business already in place that generate varying amounts of commission dollars then maybe you shouldn't be interviewing.

Is a collagen specialist new? Integra has collagen products sold from numerous divisions. Are they going to work with ortho recon and neuro?

100% on target.

Multiple divisions are selling the same biologics. The reps around pushing the same pile in a different box.

I'm also looking at a collagen sales specialist with this company. I'm currently in pharma and am interviewing for several different companies (pharma and diagnostics). This would be a paycut and I would love to get into medical device sales. However, not at the cost of being with a bad company. Anyone out there with Integra Life Sciences who can answer if there is a lot of turnover, are your products sellable (yes, i know...a good sales rep can sell anything, yah yah lol), etc??

Many thanks in advance.

Solid company. Like any other, it has it's issues. Just came back from NSM and pumped up though. quotas are realistic, sales force is awesome, and comp is fair to the lower side, but the culture and opportunity make up for it Good Luck

NSM=national sales meeting? So have you been with the company for a while?

Thanks so much for the first + thing I may have read on here about this company. lol

I was told for collagen sales specialist it was a 50k base and bonus of 10-20k/ year which is what was posted for the job posting online. Travel 50-75%. Another cafe pharma post said they are slow with reimbursing travel but I didn't ask if rep pays and then gets reiumbursed.

I'll stick with pharma. It may not be as "respected" but I can't justify taking that big of a cut for traveling and $ coming out of my pocket.

Best wishes to those still applying :)

I was told the same thing too. The second round of interviews is next week. I am looking to get into medical sales as well but that is tough to go to a 50k base with a small bonus. The kicker is they are not offering a company car OR car allowance, just mileage! Thinking about opting out. They said this collagen position supports the reconstructive division.
