if your 'move' equates to you being out of a job shortly, than go ahead a work at LabCorp. you'll pull in between $50-75k as a KAE (JV rep) and $75-$125 as SME (varsity rep)
it's a terrible place to work and full of people walking around like zombies stuck in their careers. you can't really do much or affect any change. but if you need a place to park while you look for a real job that pays better, not a bad landing spot for short term only. you can get by working part time.
Spoken like a true failure..........bottom line is if salary is important to you as a sales rep they get outta sales. Go check with the accessionning department

The quotas are challenging and if you don't meet them monthly, you won't be able to enjoy your base for very long anyway.......

Is 50-75K the base or is it with commission?
Don't listen to this joker. Part of sales is negotiating the highest base you can get in the interview. Good for you trying to do research what the average is. I guess if you are not used to making commissions 2x of your salary it does not matter. Because that's what I am used to, a $70k base vs a $78k base doesn't matter to me. I have found over the years the less whinnying you do,the better off you will be in the long run. Your salary will be based on years in the field along with the average salary of the reps in that position.

The salaries would be tolerable if the commissions were better. For the amount of work and knowledge a seasoned rep brings to the table, LabCorp underpays (at the cost of losing quality people). A lot of amazing reps both KAE and SME have left for better paying jobs, with way less responsibility. LabCorp has the power and dollar to grow through acquisitions and partnerships. Unfortunately, they are losing talent in every department - the long term repercussions will prove costly. This is not an industry where you can just "insert new person." The unique knowledge all the staff bring to the table with their specific region is priceless and should be valued by the company at a much higher level. Hopefully the company changes the culture, value system, and where they "invest."
It does not go unnoticed that you find "way less responsibility" to be a desirable condition of employment. No doubt that this is the cause of your low commissions. Sounds like you are not a quality person and someone we should lose. Best of luck with your new less demanding employer. We have high standards. You are not Labcorp material.

The "way less responsibility" was taken out of context. What I meant by that, was that the human capital and relational capital that the reps have can be very high in contrast to similar medical rep positions at other fortune 50 companies. However, the overall pay, commission, and benefit package is aimed at a level that entices or makes the quality rep or internal employee look elsewhere. This inevitably happens to some degree at every company, but it seems recently to be increasing as long standing folks leave. The goal of a company such as this, should be to grow and retain that capital.
Let me give you an executive summary. The grass is always greener on the other side and it distracts you from making the progress we both hoped you would when you were hired.

It just sounds like some lifer or Kool aid drinker afraid to realize that there may be a better life. Hey, if you're happy at labcorp, good for you but let's keep it real and not be so bias
