Salaries need to be adjusted based on relative cost of living standards. Currently everyone has the same pay grade regard less of where they live. A rep in Alabama or Nebraska is paid the same as California and this is just not right.

Spot on, been here for 15 years and live in CA. The last two years I have lived in a public storage unit and use a p.o. box for mail. It sucks when the sample people do their annual audit as I have to move out all my belongings. Meanwhile, my useless ctl lives a few miles away in a gated countryclub estate. I shower at the gym and have a generator for power, cell, etc.

Look at this from the other side, Merck's expense control side. Maybe Merck could reduce the salary brackets for areas with lower cost of living.

Pharma companies and other large companies give the same salary across the nation to the same job description. If you live in CA or NY that's your problem. But the socialistic libs are there; they spend your money faster than a blink.

The good news is that I have a 2200 sq ft house in bay area that I bought in 1993 for $375K and is now valued at 2.2 million so that does help when I cash in and relocate to a lower cost area in the very near future. Guess it is all relative.
