Saw another post said 70's was max. Sure hope this is not case as territories are pretty big

I would say that information you saw on the metabolic thread is accurate. 70's is probably max salary. Keep in mind though, the bonus plan at target is in the mid 20's and it's not hard to make 15 to 20k in that plan. Not hard at all. Company car...excellent benefits. Not sure what territory you're looking at, but so what if you have to do a little more driving and an occasional overnight? Here is what's important: How bad do you want this job? How interested are you, really, in the epilepsy market? and Why do you want to work for Eisai? Are you going to be comfortable working for a small company, where there is a lot of visibility? Do you relish the opportunity to stand out? I mean I don't know your situation but, there are people out there that are unemployed, with families, a house, etc.... that would give their right nut to have the job. Your post sounds like your spoiled. Sounds like you want something that will pay you a 95K base and where the territory is all within 25 miles of your home just so you can go home for lunch and be back home by 2:30 or 3. BTW just curious, do you have previous Neurology experience. If so, selling what?

To the above poster, I was just asking a simple question not complaining a bit. As far as the territories, no, I was not looking for a small 25 miler, I just don't want to be doing overnights 2-3 night per week which is what i looks like you may have to do for this territory. The one I am interviewing for cover parts of 2 states and can not effectively work this on a 1 day routing.
I am absolutely not spoiled. I know the market is competitive, and there are many out of work myself included. My thoughts are for someone like myself who has had Neuro experience for several years, the salary should measure to the experience. I made 20k+ in bonus with my previous job whether it was in PCP or specialty because I was a producer. I know Eisai is a smaller company but if this is a TRUE specialty position, which it is, 70K may not cut if for some even if you are unemployed. Especially if there is that much travel involved. I am not naive but I just wanted to know what to expect when I go into the interview

Ok fair enough. I'm glad to hear you were not complaining. We don't need any more complainers here. As far as the territory goes, how many overnights you will do depends on where the targets are located. I can also tell you this is a TRUE specialty position because all of the targets for epilepsy are Neurologists. But hey, if you are unemployed then you have to just judge for yourself whether the position is worth taking if it is offered to you versus continuing on unemployment and exploring other opportunities if they come along. I can tell you though that if you don't take it if it is offered, then there will be others who have Neurology experience, existing relationships, and documented sales accomplishments, who will be thrilled to take it, even if the salary is 70K. Trust me on that. I talk to DMs all the time and they tell me how inundated they get with resumes from experienced people when they have an open position. That is the nature of the current job market in pharma and elsewhere and companies know that. Are there companies out there offering 80 or 85 base for specialty positions? Absolutely. But you know what? It's been that same 80 to 85K for the last 4 to 5 years. It hasn't budged. I know because 4 1/2 years ago I was unemployed and that's what companies were offering including Eisai. Supply and demand. A lot of people out of work or underemployed and few positions to be had. One last thing to factor in is having a brand new product when Fycompa is approved. Which means no patent expiration for at least a decade, which enhances job security. Not necessarily the case at some other companies. I know someone who left Eisai last year for a major pharma company to get a smaller territory and more money. About 6 months after completing training, they had a layoff and guess what? That's right, she was cut. Hey man, good luck on the interview. Hope you eventually get what you want.

wOW, he was just answering my questions and I appreciate it!!

Thanks for your answers. Just to kind of follow up, the main targets of this territory are locared in my home city and 2 other cities each 2-3 hours away minimum so there will definitley be numerous overnights to effectively work this territory. That is what I am wrestling with as I value a job but I also value my work/life balance and at this point I am not that desperate for a job where I know it will greatly effect my life especially where the money is not great.
Thanks again for your honest insight
