Rituxan on 60 Minutes last night

MD Anderson has charged an Ohio patient $13,000 per infusion and it had to be paid upfront!!! They wouldn't take his insurance and now his family is in hock up to their necks. Someone from DNA needs to fix this and put limits on how much a hospital system can mark up our drugs! Take some of the money that will be spent in Vegas and help this family out.

Beers are 5 bucks a beer in Vegas. $13,000 would be 2600 beers, that does not even come close to the Monday night tab, let alone the rest of the week. We need alcohol to make it through the week. Heck, 13k could be my corporate bonus on March 15th. I am looking at a new Mercedes to drive around Chicago.

This is an issue between MD Anderson and the patient. Stay out. MD Anderson probably has a five billion dollar endowment to cover the cost anyway. We need to focus on Vegas and party. We are Genentech.

They had the patient on air and he and his wife had to borrow a lot of money to pay for his treatments. That was $13,000 for one dose!!

We buy insurance for these exact situations, and now the hospital won't accept the insurance to cover the cost? Maybe that's what needs to be changed instead of going after the company making a life saving drug.

You are so lost. Having Health Insurance does not equate to Health Care. The patient probably does not have Genentech like Health Insurance. MD Anderson has cost as well in doing business. If the recent Genentech Distribution model change impacted the Cancer Center, the impact was millions in the cost of care. They have the best physicians, nurses and pharmacists in the country that deserve to get paid a fair wage. That is different than a drug company. The life saving drug is developed by a MD or PhD. Stop the hope with dope story from the rep trained as a marketing major, journalism major, parole officer or shop teacher. The reps bring no value. Delivering pizza does not cut it, except the pizza 8 ways. Does MD Anderson even allow Genentech reps around the place?

MD Anderson should not accept insurance that might pay 40 cents on the dollar given the expertise they provide. These are well trained physicians that have been in school over a decade, not some drug rep with a marketing degree from state U. Given the extra costs that Genentech piled on Cancer Centers after October 1st, everyone should be going after Genentech. All of these costs for reps in which the majority do not know the difference between an ALT (liver enzyme test) and BLT (The Sandwich). Genentech scammed the Oncoogy community.

F the patient. We are Genentech and spending $10 million on our national meeting in Vegas!

And F Hagop and MD Anderson too!
Would you say this on camera if 60 Minutes showed up to the meeting? You're a coward hiding behind your anonymity. Kantarjian had nothing to do with this, it was MD Anderson's unwillingness to accept this patient's insurance.

We don't hide at DNA. We throw one heck of a party in Vegas to congratulate each other on a job well done by over charging patients and hcps our drugs. It is all in plain view. F you Mr. Medicare! We are living large and rubbing it in your face !

you are such an ass. please leave if you are really from Genentech.

You are so naive about what is happening at Genentech. We pay reps to put in fake calls on docs a 1,000 miles away, not in outreach clinics, near death, the whole works. 300k per year to do that. We pay a manager 300-500k a year in wages and benefits to show up to work like 3 hours in 11 months, approve display fees for yoga talks and gift cards. We hire reps from another company turning over proprietary information such as loyalty discounts.

Two weeks from tonight is prom night. Then the post prom drunkfest. No one can squander money on the backs of Cancer patients like us. Maybe Monty Python, err, Ian Clark will talk about integrity. Too funny. Enjoy the week!! Throw back a few on Uncle Genentech. It's going to be wild, pure animal house.

Yoy are mis-stating the facts of the segment. Its not that the patients insurance was NOT accepted, as it WAS! The patient simply had a bare bones insurance plan that neither covered much of the medical serbices needed, including Rituxan. To make things worse, the hospital billed the patient 13,000 for the treatments, when they were only paying about 3,500.

Im sorry, but if you were paying attention, and not fabricating to suit your own point of view, you would have to admit that the segment itself was not even about the cost of Rituxan; it WAS however about the the policy of hospitals greatly inflatable the costs of rooms, beds, medicines, etc and gouging the patients.

This story had NOTHING to do with Roche, and everything to do with MD Anderson, ripping off the patient and the outrageous markups across the board. NICE TRY THOUGH!

Yes, the national media would enjoy you going on camera and stating the MD Anderson was ripping people off. A drug company paying a manger 300-500k to show up for 3 hours in 11 months to work with a rep. The same manager approving display fees to underwrite a yoga talk and gift cards. Ripping off is paying a rep from Genentech 300k to submit for yoga talks and gift cards, as well as submitting fake calls in their system, SFA. When fake calls are submitted, is that Sales Fraud Automation? MD'Anderson physicians actually go to work and save lives. Genentech reps and managers bring no value.

Keep calling out MD Anderson. Do they even allow the clown fest of Genentech reps on the property? We no longer do. Go drive your Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar, Lexus somewhere else. The Medical Oncology community across the country is tired of the Genentech game. Have one of your religious studies or marketing majors go somewhere else and wow people.

You are very pathetic. I've seen post after post and all you do is name the same shit about Genentech. Please get a fuc**** life. I'm serious, this is really ridicolous! You are simply obsessive with Genentech and it is unhealthy! Why don't you take a pay cut from your inflated paycheck and pay for your patients that you say you care so much about? Also, I guess the doctors who are payed by these dying patients should turn their Mercedes, etc in too! Grow up and realize that this is reality and it doesn't matter how much you log onto this site and post hate messages, it will not change what is now your reality, so put your big girl panties on or find a new profession because you obviously can't handle this one!

I already know what your tired come back is ... what degree that you think is unqualified to speak to your lordship ... but guess what, it is what it is long after you and I are gone from this earth. So go find a life or a companion before you end up in a straight jacket!

No problem with the doctors, they actually have a brain and have worked hard, training long hours to get where they are. The physicians deserve the Mercedes. The reps and managers are simply leeches that bring no value. Takers from the system.

Hey stud, why don't you and CEO Clark go on national TV and discuss how proud you are paying people to not go to work, put in fake calls. Maybe you could have your compliance guru and legal eagle from Washington, DC join you as well and discuss how cool it is to cover up this activity. Maybe you could look at the doctor from Maine that has a fake call on her in the Midwest and tell her how Genentech deserves to act in this way. Genentech squanders millions of dollars on the backs of Cancer patients across the United States for this activity. That is the difference, the physicians go to work and are held accountable. There is no accountability at Genentech, basically the equivalent of cover up.

Come back and report when you and CEO Clark are going on 60 minutes to discuss why Genentech is entitled to put in fraudulent calls, underwrite pancreatic talks, gift cards, etc. by the way, our clinic has its Holiday party after the first of the year. We are having the party Super Bowl weekend. Who do we contact at Genentech to have gift cards delivered to the office and food delivered to the party? I guess your reps would bring some value in that case.

Keep people employed with unethical behavior. Keep thinking you are fooling the medical community.

Bottom line fact, we in the pharma/biotech industry will always be the easy target due to capitalism....God forbid the auto industry, Google or Apple, develops and sells products to make a profit. After 25 years, drugs still cost @11% of the healthcare dollar while the majority of costs come out of hospital stays and due to the lack of tort reform (f.ing liberals love to sue), the cost of malpractice insurance has to be passed along. No one is screaming about the cost of a colonoscopy at $4000 for 10 minutes of "inspection time" up the pooper......just saying, we will always be vilified by the media and those do folders who run hospital systems and make millions off the back of $2000/day room and board charges. We can't win unless we turn to a socialist system.
