David died Wednesday just before dawn when a company plane crashed into an empty lot just after takeoff from the Burlington airport.

The plane was carrying interoffice mail to Raritan. It was completely destroyed. No word yet about whether any specimens were lost.

The news on TV indicated there were no samples on board.

David has been labeled a hero by the neighborhood, in avoiding all the homes and apartments in the area, opting to put down in a nearby park

Sincerest condolences to his family, friends and co-workers

How sad. I remember a Quest pilot died sometime ago trying to land. The pilots and couriers that deliver specimens are unsung heroes in our business. We lost a courier to a head-on collision with a drunk driver

Unsung heroes is correct. I'm sure he will be sorely miss. My condolences to his family and friends.

Perhaps the family sould consider hiring legal representation to see whether the plane was properly maintained. If lca handles there planes like they do their employees and specimens, the family probably has a HUGE lawsuit on their hands.

Assuming the guy took the free company life insurance, his family should be sitting pretty. I think it pays triple if you die on company time doing company business. It doesn't make up for the tremendous loss to his family, but they won't be eating beans and rice.
