Amylin Pharmaceuticals Obtains Temporary Restraining Order Against Eli Lilly
SAN DIEGO, May 26, 2011 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ --

As an attorney, I can assure you that some convincing perception of violence or other harm is necessary for a restraining order. I feel sorry for Dr. L, as he seemed so pleasant and confident when visiting AME in San Diego, even joking (?) while there that "maybe we should move our corporate center to San Diego" I don't know the particular boundaries prescribed in this restraining order but suffice it to say that Lilly is now in very deep do-do in the entire State of California.

Eli Lilly has record-high levels of productivity in the area of producing copious amounts of enemies. "Enemies that Matter" in fact.

Yes, for FIPNET to work we must con our foolish partners into believing they can trust us regardless of our track record. Just because we have a history of misleading others does not mean we will do it again in the future. Just ask our loyal Lilly employees. Lilly leadership can always be trusted to do what's in their own best interest. You have my word on it. $$ JL $$

It could be argued that employees should have had a restraining order, too. The non-stop verbal harassment about impending job cuts over the course of years was devastating to performance. You in management should all try to make amends. Apologize for your brutish and greedy behavior.

It could also be said that employees could use restraining orders against each other, too, in light of the impending job cuts. I am not talking about managers, as your comment states. Employees have ramped up the practice of backstabbing and lying about each other to epic proportions in efforts to save their jobs and destroy others. Quite frankly, this is not a new behavior at Eli Lilly and Company--it is well seasoned and has been highly effective for many years.

The most unbelievable aspect of it all is that these people get away with it, while also getting promoted, etc., and watching the people they've destroyed lose their jobs. I can think of several right now who beam and smile when their lies cause others to be reprimanded/humiliated by management and/or lose their jobs. Liars are the ones who should be losing their jobs at all times and especially in times of downsizing, not the innocents they have destroyed. Those who practice deception are the ones who should have restraining orders placed against them AND should be pushed out the door IMMEDIATELY once their deception has been made known. A word to naive male management at Eli Lilly: You have been conned and deceived by many of your female direct reports. This is not a rant about women, but the truth is they often use cloying behavior to deceive their bosses. Isn't it about time for male management to learn what honesty and integrity really is?! One can only assume that if you condone the deception, you are complicit also...

The sad thing about this commentary is that while Indianapolis and all the world wants to think Eli Lilly is a great company bringing great medicines to the world, the reality is that it is comprised of 100% humans who don't always practice honesty, integrity, ethics, and the standards the business is supposed to model. Be certain that the rank and file includes employees who may have learned some mechanical skills, but are seriously lacking in soft skills and perform with stupidity and naivety in their dealings with each other. WHY, WHY, WHY does management listen to foolish people complaining & lying about co-workers, and then punish the ones who were lied about????!!!! They must be liars, too...

Any maybe this is the behavior that has and is bringing about Lilly's demise?

We have to remember that this is a publicly traded entity for which 1.1 billion shares exist. That is a big number. Now try to wrap your head around what could possibly be worth something such that each person in North America, South America, and then some, would pony up $40 and expect a 5% annual return on investment. Sure some cancer drugs might be indispensible, but if given the choice, would YOU choose the Lilly alternative or a more promising alternative? If diagnosed with schizophrenia or manic depression, would YOU choose the Lilly alternative (which can result in obesity and diabetes as if you don't have enough troubles already) or choose a benzodiazepine - which have been chosen to be just as effective without the trivial brain damage issues? If you had type II diabetes, would you choose Lilly drugs or equivalent/better alternatives from Novartis or elsewhere - or simply get your life together and change your diet and get daily exercise?

These are the questions, which when correctly answered, may produce some transient anxiety for the vested interests involved. It's a case of "too big to fail" but at some point you must draw the line: Is this the Morgan Stanley, or is this the Goldman Sachs. One a victim, the other a vampire squid with tentacles in every American pocket.
