Respiratory Business Manager - West Texas

Hello, I saw this job posting on indeed.com. I was wondering why this position is open?

I have over 15 years of pharma sales experience. I have family in the Lubbock area and I would enjoy the chance to move back.

I have read the BI board and things don't sound happy at your company. If a layoff is about to occur, why have they posted this job?

In your opinion, is this position worth exploring? Thank you for your input in advance!

It is posted externally then. That means they did not identify a candidate internally, which is interesting. And, even more so considering therapeutic business managers have not been named via a company announcement.

We are going through massive layoffs and people in Health Systems jobs and higher levels have had to interview for positions. So, yes many of us are not happy.

Its posted probably because the internal candidates suck, or are too expensive to keep on payroll and didn't get an offer, or they got smart and left the company. Oh, the company said they weren't posting these jobs to outside candidates, clearly that was a lie. BI is undergoing a transformation/reorganization/layoff/a cluster f*ck...I'd keep looking.

It's a MISTAKE on part of HR. These positions will be filled with current talent within BI.
100% false. They are not retaining many people above a certain pay range/band. Only a few will squeak through. I interviewed for a Health system business manager position. Didnt hear anything afterward. Then it posted externally. The indeed.com external postings state that compensation will be commensurate with job experience. A friend of mine who is looking for work posted for it (after I heard nothing) and has a phone screen tomorrow. Can't wait to hear the pay range. I bet it's a lot lower than what I make (been here 13 years). They are freezing out higher paid, tenured people and bringing in people on the cheap who are desperate for work. HR mistake?? Total horseshit. I will post tomorrow what my friend says the salary range is for the job I did not get.

people are belly-aching bc they have to re-interview for a position they now have and many are not getting those jobs. some are good managers and will lobby to make it through but some got it bc they maybe had a few good years as a rep and then bc a manager with marginal skill sets and BI let the, slide for years and years and years. They are finally starting to clean house so you may be getting a cherry territory ready be made into something wohwhile. If you are a good manager at another company and bring solid ideas how to run a territory then why not come on board. the interview process is rigorous with numbers behavioral based scenario questions so bring your a-game and best of luck. Pharma is Pharma if you've been at one company you've been at them all. It's probably a better gig than some shitty contract sales org. Best of luck.

I'm happy here. it just depends on what division the position is for. They are scaling back respiratory portfolio down from 70% to 25% book of biz and so they are decimating that field force so yeah, those guys are a little pissed. But diabetes portfolio is being scaled up so they will expand and no changes to CV. So if you are being brought in then it will depend on what portfolio you get. If it's resp then you might be saddled with a bunch of us-motivated pissy reps and you'll spend a year running them off for new talent or maybe you get the good ones and ready to set the world on fire and you'll job I'll be fast paced and fun. GL.

I don't know what planet your're living on but everything is getting scaled down. I find it funny that diabetes reps think they are "safer" or "less of diabetes is being cut". There is a reduction across the board. period.

In my region they are going to 3 respiratory districts and 2 diabetes districts. hm ya that really seems like they are scaling up the diabetes portfolio. FYI the region i am in is one of the largest in the US.

go ahead and apply for the position. Like it or not, tenured managers will be phased out esp if you're in the original pension program. They don't want to pay the pensions or the original retirement benefits.

If you apply in West Texas, the new RBM is a total cluster f#ck. He grates on the managers, asks rookie questions of the reps, and doesn't listen to anyone. He has driven our teams crazy since he got to North Texas. We're glad to be losing him. These last few weeks are like crawling out of Shawshank trying to be rid of him.
