The employee handbook is a good place to start. They are supposed to pay you for the 2 week notice. If your manager tells you that you are done that day, then let him know you are fine with not going in the field, you will pack up the equipment, do your expense report, etc, but that the employee handbook states that Quintiles expects a 2 week notice, and you expect to get paid for those 2 weeks. You don't want it in your file that you just quit without notice because that is extremely unprofessional and you do not want to burn bridges. Have a letter signed and dated with your last day of employment written out 2 weeks from your announcement.
