Rep Closeout? How fast do they come for your stuff?

as fast as they can arrange for all the players to get there.

Be aware that YOU are responsible for sending back all the computer, etc. stuff.
YOU will have to submit a final Expense Report.
YOU will have to do ending inventory.
YOU will be asked to transfer any remaining samples to a nearby rep

Your company credit card will be turned off almost immediately.

A third party vender will arrange to pick up the car - at their convenience.

What did I forget?

Do they expect you to go in the field after you've given your resignation? Or are you pretty much done the day you give your two weeks?

The day you advise Merck of your pending resignation, you are done. Merck won't want you out in the field representing them once they acknowledge receipt of your resignation intent.

I know one associate manager submitted her resignation at West Point in the morning. Merck Security pretty much escorted her out by the end of the day.

With field sales, once you are done you are done.

Is this an official Merck policy that you're done immediately, or can your manager have the option to try and keep you in the field?

If you resign, why on earth would you want to be kept in the field? Why on earth would Merck want to keep you in the field? For your manager to try and keep you in the field after you've submitted your resignation is extremely unlikely under normal circumstances. There is no policy requiring you to give Merck a 2 week notice of your pending resignation either. This is simply a courtesy to Merck and an attempt to leave without burning bridges. If there were extenuating circumstances that your manager or Merck might have that could make your continued employment for a brief period of help to them, then you might be asked to do something for them before you leave. They would have to be willing to trust you and they would have to be in some kind of unusual bind. Otherwise, you're not obligated to work one second longer for Merck after you advise them of your resignation except the effort required to return Merck's property. You are obligated to do that. There is no official policy on resignation other than your obligation to return Merck's property. It's a "grey area" that may be handled as your management chooses.

I have NEVER seen this in 25 years. "Train a new person" after you have resigned? What color is your Koolaid?

I have never seen that in 30 years either. Only those who are promoted may come back and ride along with a replacement to introduce that person to the customers. What kind of Koolaid is that?

Really? If you leave to go to a competitor, you're free upon resignation. If not, you can work your two weeks, but what's the point? You are called to arrange pickup of Merck property and car. They took my samples. Definitely your credit card is cancelled immediately but you don't need it any more, do you?

Some reps I know have wound down their work to next to nothing for weeks to months and often are working some other job already before submitting their resignation to Merck or getting notified that their little jig is up.

I just want to be done immediately. I'm going to another company and i need to start soon. So if I put my two weeks in, who contacts me about what's expected of me? No way they can force me to stay? Will they still pay the two weeks?

Not leaving on bad terms. Happy for my time here. It's just time to go.

They'll tell you to not work any more days. Your company items will be picked up within ten days or so.

Congrats on escaping Jerck & Co. You won't miss it.

Bonus payment is subjective. If I had an opportunity to escape this toxic sompany, I'd give up bonus in a heartbeat. I would not stay one second longer just so I might get some bonus from Merck. My big bonus would be leaving this hellhole.
