Veterinary Services Representative
Petplan, America’s #1 rated pet insurance provider, is searching for experienced field sales representatives to join our rapidly growing team. This is an exceptional opportunity to work in the booming animal health market and to join one of the fastest-growing companies in America.
Each veterinary services representative is responsible for driving growth in their specific territory, targeting 300-350 veterinary facilities. You must be passionate, competitive, positive, determined, focused and will be driven to achieve “top dog” status. A desire to help shape and grow the veterinary channel of business within America’s #1 rated pet insurance – an organization that is creating market share, rather than simply capturing it – is needed.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Achieve sales growth within territory efficiently and within budget
• Develop, train, and support a pipeline of referring veterinarians within an assigned territory
• Clearly communicate competitive advantages of Petplan; demonstrate deep understanding of Petplan and competitor pet health insurance products
• Develop solid business relationships with key decision makers and influencers within veterinary practices and local veterinary associations within your territory
• Prioritize key and new accounts; conduct on-site visits and follow-up meetings as needed
• Enhance veterinary staff understanding of pet health insurance generally, and Petplan specifically
• Identify opportunities for new business and elevate to management team in timely fashion
• Tailor sales presentations to meet needs of audience and occasion – e.g. in-practice meetings, training sessions, seminars, lunch/dinner meetings, etc.
• Manage all administrative tasks and responsibilities relative to management of territory
• Attend trade shows, exhibitions and company meetings as required
• Complete and submit call reports, sales reports as required by management, including an annual territory strategic plan
• Manage expense budget and submit completed reports monthly
• Accurately record prospect and customer information in company CRM tool
• Report upon emerging and established trends in veterinary channel to management
• Live up to Petplan’s commitment to continuously exceed customer expectations
• Influence referral opportunities by exceeding customer expectations
• Must be willing to travel within your territory, to corporate headquarters, and (as needed) to trade shows, events, and/or conferences. Veterinary Services Representatives must have access to an automobile (other than in Manhattan) and are reimbursed for travel expenses.
Required Skills:
The ideal candidate will enjoy working for a dynamic and fast-paced organization. You should be able to demonstrate a proven record of building successful sales territories, developing long-lasting relationships, and consistently exceeding expectations including winning awards for sales productivity and/or territory management. A minimum five (5) years of experience in sales with two (2) years of experience as a field sales representative within the veterinary services, pharmaceutical or equipment field is required. High standard of professionalism and commitment to customer service is required. A bachelor’s degree is preferred. Pet lover a must!
