Renasys

I am a wound nurse at a large teaching University. Can someone inform me when they will bring back the Renasys pumps. I truly miss the simplicity of operation as well as the accuracy of alarms. I am tired of these over engineered vacs. Also, will they have the White Foam. I was told at one time, that White Foam would be provided by SN by June, 2013.

As a respected clinician in the community, what I miss the most is the portability and minimal weight of the EZ Max, the loud alarm, and the reliability of my staff clearly hearing an alarm each and every time, when the 800cc Can was filled to capacity. The drape was second to none, and having the on off switch, deeper into the well, really took out any chance that KCI had of bringing the VAC in. I recently went camping and used some of the drape from expired kits, to seal a hole in the tent when it was raining. I had some issues until I pasted the canvas with Gorilla Grill, and then placing a new drape on the tent. It worked great after that, the rain fell, and I was still dry inside. I also had brought along 6 expired kits of AMD gauze, which was just grand for a pillow. I found an old unit which was never picked up. BioMed was always interested in what was inside this giant cylinder that is EZ Max. They found two dead mice inside One collapsed on the mini treadmill labeled "leak alarm", his buddy, another dead mouse, was found collapsed on the treadmill labeled, "full canister alarm". I must write some accolades to the engineers who produced this fine piece of equipment, and ancillaries.

Renasys is done. Just like the hamburg that was cooked at the barbque. There's now two more players in NPWT and it will take us a year to regain the market share we had. We are still 6 months away from the FDA giving us clearance. Typical upper management being too aggressive and now suffering the consequences.

You say it will take a year to capture the market share that you had. I have to ask you as to what is in your pipe! Let's see, they lie to the FDA, and within 2 months, every IDN and Acute Care Facility has dumped this POS called Renasys. Now it is re entry time in six months, and within a year, you will be back to 12 percent market share! Let me think, Kaiser, Dignity, Duke, Cleveland Clinic, U of AB, etc, etc. They will never let SN re enter their facilities to show anything that resembles a VAC. Where are they going to re introduce this product? Apria will never work with them, UHS is done with them, and I doubt SN will do 3rd party billing. The only area they are going to be able to re enter is Long Term Care. Unfortunately, there are about 5 smaller guys fighting for that piece of the pie, as prices continue to dive. Certain products have a shelf life, and a potential for market penetration. However, when you sacrifice integrity, and push sub par performing products, and then lie to the FDA, you are doomed.
