Utica is a dying town because much of its industry have moved to more business-friendly states or closed. Housing is now relatively cheap because many can afford to buy a house or pay for the one they live in. Major employer is welfare. New York state taxes and regulations have driven most companies to more firendly locations. Which is why Conmed's largest division is in Florida, why they built the new facility in Mexico, and new distribution center in Georgia. Not a pretty picture.
