Marijuana Stocks Hit Record Highs

Stocks of companies involved in the marijuana industry -- medical or otherwise -- hit fresh highs Thursday after Colorado launched the first legal US sale of recreational pot.

Investors took the huge lines outside pot retailers in Colorado as a harbinger of potential growth in the still-new industry.

With one study predicting a $10 billion a year industry by 2018, hopes are that the legalization of private cannabis use could eventually divert the fortunes reaped by illicit growers and traffickers to shareholders.

Should have never become illegal in the first place, as a result of the end of Prohibition. Hoover and the relatively new FBI pushed it through, fearing that the legalization of liquor would be the end of their department. NYC Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia ordered civil disobedience within city limits and sued the Federal Government. The case made it all the way to the SCOTUS which ruled Congress could pass such a law. We've lived under that law. Busting users has become a business, to one extent or another. Still, 'less damage' takes in so many variables, the time span would be prohibitive. Why not just start by isolating specific factors like : automobile deaths where alcohol is the cause vs marijuana.

Hey guys, I know you like to light up, I know you want it to be legalized, but again, the math is simple and if you argue with math, you will lose.

You have been shown countless evidence that legalizing and taxing marijuana will benefit the economy. In fact, over 500 economists have agreed. The math is indeed simple - legal marijuana will generate big tax revenue.
