1. Merck is a sick company. Nothing really exciting on the horizon as far as new drugs and past performance tells me this group couldn't get a glass of tap water through the FDA.
2. Sales job is unrewarding. Sure the pay and benefits rock, but at the end of the day you want to feel like you made an impact on this world, and in this job---it ain't happening. Customers do not want you there, generics eating your lunch, driving around all day alone with your thoughts and right wing talk radio.
Dust off the resume and find a job where you can have an impact and feel good about what you do, because right now---you don't and you know it. That's why you are on this board right now....trying to find like minded people.
