Real talk about discrimination...



















Oh please! Enough already! Because you're a "middle aged-man" it's now called the "real discrimination! Take a look around you...Over 90% of MDs are white male, as well over 90% of FLMs are males as well. Don't even try and go there about middle aged men being discriminated against! The whole company revolves around you and your fast track career opportunities!
 






You are correct in the fact that the majority of managers are white males of middle age but that does not mean they did not discriminate against them in the 12/10 restructure. It sounds like it happened in the US. I can verify that it happened in Canada as well. The managers who were let go in Ontario were all middle age or older. 2 male, 1 female. Instead they kept 3 managers with less than 1 yr of experience. It had nothing to do with performance. In Canada they did not do a random computer generated restructure. The 3 older managers were well respected by the sales team. Their sales ranking were high. I doubt except for one that the salaries were too far off the younger less experienced managers (Canada does not have big salary differences). As far as the younger managers go, the worst is Novartis hired them into position in 12/09 after the last restructuring, knowing full well they were going to do it again in 12/10. So without a care for the impact on their employees they brought in new managers knowing they would have to get rid of 3 a year later. It is abhorent that Novartis has so little respect for any of its employees. That it doesn't value years of experience, loyalty, performance and will let them go without a second thought. If you can't count on your performance, experience and support from the sales team or management to keep your job secure in a restructuring. What can you count on? Obviously it doesn't matter how hard you are working?

Changing...most are middle eastern decent and indian in the residency and fellowship programs.

Also, college educated women make 8% more than men of equal experience.

What are you smoking? Here at Novatis all the women in sales are college educated, as you must have the college degree to be hired. FYI, they don't make 8% more than their male counterparts. It's been proven in court, that they made less and continue to make less than men with equal experience in the same role. Again, proven that males have an easier fast track to promotions than women.

When you look at why there are soooo many more men in FLM positions and higher in this company compared to women, you can go back to simple year end ratings. Men have been given higher ratings than women doing the same job with the same sales numbers or better! The women were all displaced due to rankings, but the rankings were faulty, as they were based on male bias...thus discriminatory practices!

I don't see it getting better for women in this company, I see it getting worse! Simple, take a look around you and really see what's going on!

Very good point. If someone (middle-aged male, for example) really thinks he was discriminated against, then seek legal action. Stand up for what you believe in. However, I think something like that would be costly to prove. With the 12/10 displacements, it seems like there really was no rhyme or reason. I think tenure with company seemed to play a big part, but I didn't see that the case everywhere.
