I am considering acquiring, managing and growing a small home health agency.

I like that home health is a growing and stable end-market, and I think it would be rewarding to build an agency that provides good service and helps patients. With that said, it is a competitive market with many large players such as Amedisys, Kindred, and LHC Group. It would be nice to get the perspective of sales reps in this market on how challenging it is to get patients and strategies that can be helpful.

A few questions:
1) How challenging would it be to drive growth and what is my likelihood of success if I am willing to invest in business improvements and sales and marketing?
2) What are the best strategies for generating leads and growing census?
3) Should I emphasize community or institutional referral sources?
4) How should i go about finding the best sales reps in a market, and how much should I offer in compensation to get them to leave a competitor and join my business? Would they be attracted to profit sharing or stock options?
5) How important is the Medicare STAR rating?

It is the Wild West, in order to beat the big boys you have to have deep pockets...but it is possible....if do what my competitors did.... just give em 5 flat screen 50’’ TVs and boom I just now get leftovers....but I get it I’m not mad at them....I’m more blown away by my $100 a month lunch budget Hahahaha these guys at Corp are clueless
