Quest Sequenom

Hate to say it - but Quest, in 2015, will not be using Illumina products in reference to the license opportunity concerning Sequenom's NIPT-IP. IMO.
For the immediate time being, while Quest is sending 'high risk' samples to Sequenom - yes - Illumina will still benefit from the testing - for now. My belief is Quest will be handling the low risk general population (Sequenom) testing on an alternate platform in house (2015).
I also believe Sequenom will be off the Illumina feed bag by 2015 for all NIPT testing performed by them.

that's if Sequenom is still around in 2015, Illumina will continue to enable other labs to run NIPT, which will continue to shrink Sequenom share, and oh, BTW, Sequenom continues to loose money every quarter. Good luck with the new platform, if it ever gets validated, not a strong suit for Sequenom.

Check out Natera post. SQNM sales reps will be cut by the truck load. Only way this makes sense

Since most people won't track it down, here is the content of the "Natera Post" which was referenced:

True that about the value of the Quest deal. SQNM should have done it 12-18 months ago. Would have given them a phleb network and some MCO contracts along with some good publicity. Now who knows? I dont see Quest reps working real hard to sell MT21 unless they can make some decent $$ and the reimbursement is smooth so their docs dont get pissed off because their patients have to spend a bunch in OOP. Still no low risk reimbursement. Medicaid reimbursement sucks SQNM will cut their sales force and depend on Quest to carry the load. Its the only way this makes sense.

SQNM has to be breakeven by the end of the year or the whole sorry bunch is history. They took a hard look at the trend and didnt like what they saw so this gives them a way to cut the sales expense and hopefully keep volume high enough to breakeven. You have already seen empty territories not being rehired and low profit ones being cut. They will use the Ariossa Labcorp model. They will keep us around long enough to teach Quest reps how to sell it and them BOOM. As the other post said it is the only way this makes sense.

We'll said.

SQNM team doesn't realize that all the volume to come thru Quest labs will be excluded from their incentive comp.....even the volume they generate that happens to go to Quest for phleb services.

Actually it's Illumina, they make oney everytime Sequenom runs a test, Sequenom wished they could say that

actually sequenom does too, its just they over pay their sales and marketing staff but with quest on board 3rd qtr. their opex will drop going forward. pretty soon illumina will be having competition on machines in NIPT market. or they'll have to buy sequenom outright for a ridiculous amount of money 5 billion +.

my only question to you is when will you be covering your short position all your ideas on sequenom are now wrong ?

Looks like sequenom is going to be the king of NIPT going forward.

Nope. It's very wierd we are now partnered with a company whose reputation we have been destroying for the last 5 yrs to providers. Very ironicic. It really makes Quest look silly and hurts our credibility. Illumina nipt is the best.

The last thing SQNM reps need to worry about is getting screwed on IC by Quest. They are going to replaced by Quest. Its the only way they get to profitability and they will throw their grandmother under the bus to get there. Good bye SQNM reps but hey you got to dress up and play like sales professionals for a short time. Thanks to the investors for paying you excessive $$ and lets not forget how much you were able to steal on the expense account.

Quest has no credibility.

Get over yourself. You work for a crap company.
