Hi All,

As a a current rep for LabCorp, are any of you worried about Quest. They seem to have gone a full restructuring of their org, to regain growth and profits. Whats your thoughts?

Smoke and Mirrors to give the mirage of being innovative to Wall Street. This 'makeover' will flame out due to the layers of beauracracy that will prevent being responsive to customers needs. Cookie-cutter Quest will not support the new model.

I give it a 10 on Flameout Meter! Same Ole Quest!

Not worried at all. Huge opportunity for us . The downsizing is causing major service failures which I am capitalizing on in a big way.. Should be a great year for me, Thanks Quest!

My buddy is a sales director there and said layers of management were reduced from 10 to 7.

Another way to look at is that Quest has 7 layers of management to navigate to get anything done. I worked for Quest when they rolled out their Strategic Account Manager (SAM) position in the Atlanta Business Unit circa 2005. The SAM position specifically targeted Uro, Gastro and Derm. The SAM program crashed and burned after about 2 years because they just couldn't compete with specialized labs that were responsive to client needs. I remember that minor changes in report formatting would be promised but never delivered to the client because the approvals would get bogged down in the levels of management and everyone wants to have their say.

Quest and Labcorp are both in the business of providing a commodity product. It simply does not support being responsive to specialized requests from clients and never will be.

Compare the market cap Labcorp vs. Quest over the past 5 years and see how much more Quest lost to Labcorp. Labcorp is now at 8.4 Billion and Quest is at 9.2 billion 5 years ago Quest was almost 4 billion more than Labcorp
