Pulmonology/Neurology Specialty Question

There is an opening for a pulmonology/neurology specialty position near me and I'm just wondering--what are the products that are promoted in this position?

Thank you so much for any help. I literally just got laid off and have some experience with pulmonologists and neurologists so I want to make sure that I am qualified before I apply.

Then you should know the product mix. Sounds more like you're a competitive intelligence troll, and a wide eyed newbie at that.

I'm not a competitive intelligence troll and I just got laid off (seriously).

I've looked at everything on the website and have posted for the position but I was just looking for some assistance. My current thoughts are that it's for Mirapex, Spiriva, aggrenox & the one that begins with the letter "c."

And, maybe someone could tell me if he or she is happy here because I value that above everything else when I am thinking of joining a company and starting the application process.

Then you should have some sort of relationship with a BI rep in your area or be able to easily get that from an office you've got a good rapport with. Otherwise you're a marketing troll.

The one that begins with the letter c? Seriously?

Covident--I had just woken up and I had a migraine (I have a heck of a lot on my mind since getting laid off).

Why must everyone be a troll here? I was in a CNS specialty position were I mostly called on psychs but was paid on all scripts so some neurologists and pulmonologists were also called on by me.

I don't really know any BI reps. I did know someone who was on the Inventiv contract for primary care a few years ago for Spiriva and Pradaxa but she was never hired directly by BI.

My gut that people are not generally happy here and this place has a semi-big pharma feel whereas I just came from a small company with a family feel (when you get a taste of that it's hard to let that go).

Could someone just answer if there is a counterpart in specialty or not? My first company out of college had a counterpart situation that I hated because, as I'm sure many have experienced, I never had a good counterpart but more like one who loved to sweep in and take credit but also was a slacker (and liked to throw others under the bus).

The company with the counterpart was also a big pharma one where EVERYTHING was watched and under a microscope and it sucked. I really dislike any company that tries to play a "gotcha" game with their people because it looks like they are working against them instead of for them.

Take the job if you are laid off but BI is bottom of the barrell. You will have counterparts on counterparts at this dump. Plan on meeting at Panera with them 57 times a week to plan 35 more meetings about routing. If you sell you will be blackballed by the other 72 reps in your area who cry by Thurs afternoon they have "nowhere to go". This place is full of washed up reps who are toast when they get laid off.

Thank you so much for your post! That kind of reads like my first company and I would like to avoid that type of situation again.

As if it wasn't bad enough having slacker counterparts I also had some that took disability whenever it was convenient for them (ex: finishing a degree and/or buying a house).

I have one whose hubby has trust fund and she throws everyone under the bus. She only works because she doesn't want to stay home and raise her trophy kids. All the offices hate her and she just gets sigs. Complains every Friday that she has nowhere to go.

Pulmonology reps work in teams of two. Going forward they will not be Neurology at all. The carry Spiriva and Combivent Respimat right now. BI has all the issues of Big Pharma, and you can not predict the future at any company right now, but Pulmonology is probably the best place to be in the company right now. If you really want to work in Pharma, this company is not any wors than the others.

Unless your counterpart had Ole Oil money Trust Fund. Uh oh. Tomorrow is Friday. She will have nowhere to go.

Respiratory team is a mess. Hopefully GG can clean things up.

That said, good pipeline. Certainly more than any other team. Diabetes is distant 2nd. More potential selling respiratory.

to the person who assumed field sales force size and configuration and product weight is public knowledge- the answer is: it is not- otherwise please tell me where one can Simply look up And find current Pharma sf info? answer- no where- that's why CI trolls mine these boards to meet their client deadlines.

There is no neuro anymore so it's just a pulmonary position. Teams are 1, you don't have a counterpart except in very few cities. Spiriva and Combivent Respimat and the future respiratory pipeline is what you'd sell.

forget about pulm/neuro spec details for now;

here are some criteria to consider regarding the company/local culture and management style before making your decision (utilize your sources and interactions with current and former employees to run down this checklist): ask yourself 'does this company/management.....'

Build trust
Give public recognition of others accomplishments
Put employees needs before his/her own
Make people feel they belong
Frequently say, ‘How can I help you?’
Give employees his/her time
Give up perks when it matters
Encourage employees to take control of projects and run with them
Create a safe environment; one where employees feel they express views, no finger-pointing
Remain open to creative ideas (employees don’t feel they’re being critically judged)
Encourage people with different skills to work together
Foster Leadership: give others leadership opportunities to drive action
Encourage taking risk: allows employees to try new ways of doing things or new projects that no one has tried before
Afford autonomy: allow employees to work independently on projects
Offer training
Offer meaningful work: delegates work that is challenging and interesting
Provide space for both social and private time
