PTO for new hires

I am looking for honest feedback on the PTO amount that is given to new hires. How many days annually? What is this accrual process and how does it work?

I can not find a link to benefits online. If someone has one please post.

Even Forrest has better benes.
1. New Hires with pharma experience - 18 days pto, 3 Free, 10 Federal, NO, I repeat, NO sick days regardless of childcare issues, inclement weather, hurricanes, etc.
2. BI i s open year 'round. No throttle down week of Independence and Xmas. Burn your PTO or work. Oh they are extry nice this year they did give us xmas eve off but not NewYears Eve off. Dicks.
3. Accrual basis of PTO up to set point then NO more added, accrues starting Jan1 with 4 hours every 2 weeks (i,e., on pay period day). Since there are no sick days, if you call in sick on a day with no accrued PTO in the bank then you are terminated as employee. Yes, it's that shitty. FU Fonteyne.
4. You sign away your constitutional right to sue when you work for this German Company. You may not take any grievance to a court of law - only to an "arbitration" setting that they pay and choose. Get this, by signing their clause even you may take racist grievance to a EEOC court however, you agreed to never receive any monetary award from BI if you choose to do so. [It's in the Arb clause - go read it] If you are a fan of signing away your right to sue like you did with your cell phone company then you are gonna love this.

Stay away, only come here unless you have mouths to feed for awhile until something better opens up. Upper management thinks sales is a shithole of people that bring little to no value. Do you really want to work for a company that values you like this?

The sick days are included in the PTO and yes, there are snow days for inclement weather if the schools are closed. The accrual system is pretty stupid, I will admit that. Otherwise, fairly generous as far as PTO.

Um, ask you DM, BI gives NO sick or inclement weather days - you can only use your PTO. If you have no PTO to use for sick or inclement then it becomes unapproved and you will be terminated. You don't have to believe ask you interview DM.

Just to confirm: you get 18 days PTO, 3 Free days and 10 Federal Holidays.

31 Days Off for NEW hire...that's just awful.. I mean really only 1 full month of not working?

What about after 5 years? another 5 days min???

Man, what a bunch of pharma cry babies...gee... how many hours are you working in the field each day?? 5-6 hours tops? This is a part time job, with full pay and benes, come on, just enjoy it, stay happy and appreciate what you've got.

Fuck off, if you aren't the person who asked, no one cares what you think waste of space. There are plenty of better benes out there and there are sure worse ones. I think the no sick time off for kids is bullshit. I think the arbitration clause is bullshit. I think their accrual basis of PTO is bullshit. I guarantee the douchebags who pushed these decisions onto us employees don't themselves have these same rules. I think it's anti-employee and sets a framed rule that BI does NOT value their employees. However, 5 maybe even 2 years ago even under Bobby J this shit would have never occurred. BI set themselves up to be like every other joke of Pharma these days - Pfizer, BMS, JnJ, etc. It's pathetic. So fuck off.

We do have sick time. It's called Paid Time Off. We get a lot of it too. Provides even more incentive to not get sick.

Benefits here are pretty good. But keep in mind that BI is like other companies; every year they ask for a little bit more and give a little bit less.

Accrual PTO is a smart move for the company. Really frees up some financial burden for people who leave.

If you wanna cover yourself, just carry over some extra PTO into next year and you will always have a buffer of a few days to start the year. In case you or a family member gets sick in Jan or Feb.

No, PTO stands for personal time off, it does not mean "sick" days, dumbass. Sick days are what other Pharma gives their reps when they need to stay home due to them being sick or their kids being sick. PTO is used for vacation, numbnuts. It brings employees down and shows that management doesn't care about them when they have to burn vacation time for sick kids. If you don't understand that , well then, I guess your nose must be up somebody's ass so far you lost touch. 18 days is NOT enough to contend with sick kids and then be well rested for work from vacations. How can PTO provide you an "incentive to not get sick" form the flu in february since our main job is to go into sick doctors offices? I fucking swear the quality of education in this county produces idiots.

Benes like healthcare is standard of industry with a 90/10 healthcare plan. The Pharma benefits blows with their Medco mail order scheme. But I don't have a problem with this. I plan to enjoy it while it lasts because when Obamacare taxes on business that offer 90/10 "platinum" plans ends this and we all go to a 80/20 "gold" plan.

Accrual isn't smart for a business at all. It stresses employees out! Period. Let me guess, you got an MBA from University of Fenix and in your ... ehem ... MBA classes they taught you how an employer that shits over its employees is what makes us feel "empowered" right? Do you even think about what you write before you write it? You get 18 days fuckwad that you have to roll in a family vacation, take off time for Xmas because no child care since school is closed, tend to sick kids at home with the flu in February, take spring break off because there's no child care during that week the schools close, hope no summer colds, etc, etc, and then save 5 days to roll over??????? Are you serious? Is that what makes a company smart???? BI makes Billions a year. Not Millions, BILLIONS a year and the reduction of PTO is what's going to keep them afloat? What weed are you schmoking? Accrual basis of PTO makes sense to them when they want to do a headcount reduction. Well, don't fucking do a headcount reduction. Smartly hire in the first place, but no. The first thing BI does is always hire in people. They laid off 30% in 09 and decided to douche us over with CSO which was a miserable failure. SO their answer was to roll them into us, only to do another layoff in 12 because they were bloated again. Now because they are getting product extensions for Spiriva and Pradaxa and in hopes of launching another diabetes drug they are going to ramp up again and hire new reps? What the fuck is wrong with this company? We are tripping over each other as it is and they are going to bloat up sales again, which will inevitably lead to another layoff. Also, we are about to lose a shit-load of money on Pradaxa lawsuits in at least paying for patient doctors bills. Hell, we paid through the nose in illegally promoting drugs as evidenced through CIA. SO, no, an accrual basis of PTO isn't smart for a business it's only used to cover their ass when they blunder and then reduce headcount to cover their mistakes. Got it? Or do I need to go on more, dumbass.

You are a r*****.

Oh, go get your flu shot now to prevent the flu in Feb. that will provide you with 3-5 additional days of Paid Time Off for you to worry about your sick kids.

We all have our problems. Blaming your company's PTO policy is weak. How many people actually take PTO when their kid is home sick? I would guess less than 1/2 of employees actually take PTo. Most call their boss and ask if they can bail on work for the day. Also, maybe ask your spouse to stay home. Grass is always greener, so obviously THEY have better bene's right?

Jeebus H christ, firstly, the flu shot is not 100% effective, you non-healthcare idiot. Secondly, flu is used in most general sense here like "any viral or bacterial infection". Does your flu shot prevent against strep throat, dingleberry?

Yes, we all do have our problems and I think BI has made employees live worse off than it was before. I do NOT work for a DM who just lets me take time off when my kid is sick. If yours does that then he risks his job for being dishonest to the company. That is time theft and I guess you have no morals for that but I do. You can guess how many take 1/2 the time but you have no idea. right. That's your uninformed dumbass ignorant hypothesis with NO evidence to support it. If you have multiple kids then you would know it's impossible to coordinate all kids getting the flu at the same time, dickweed.

BI is anti-employee. period. They are out for themselves and don't care what reckless policies they force on employees.

Arbitration clause: Is that really good for me?

Accrual basis of PTO:Is this really good for me?

18 days PTO for vacay and sick: is this really good for me?

Are you really going to defend these anti-employee policies? I don't know about every other Pharama but if they have these then they are anti-employee too.

You get time off for being ruh-tarded? Also, phuck you and your 'morals' comment. You make little sense in your comments.

Company policies are not reckless. They are a result of what has been a long time coming. Company's former benefits were overly generous (ie, PTO and pension) and this is the company's way of mending past ills. Yeah, it sucks for us, but we all have the option of NOT working here or NOT accepting arbitration agreement.

New PTO policy saves company a lot of money. New pension saves company money. Arbitration clause saves company money. You seeing a trend here? We are in a saving mode, yet we are NOT doing it by cutting headcount.

Go suck your thumb or better yet, grab a few more signatures and call it a week. Maybe go play with your kids who have weak immune systems.

Agreed, pharma is a joke, its pathetic, just like every other Pharma Co.,...guess that's why everyone is still here hanging on to the job (now lets complain about the lame drinks/bar rules and times at meetings!)

The company makes BILLION on its overpriced drugs: Spiriva over 200 bucks, Respimat over 200 bucks, "are you seeing a trend here?"

The company has always payed less so they could fund PTO and Pension. Now they pay less and no longer fund those. The cost savings are coming on the backs of employees. How many buildings does BI build every year? Instead of paying every joe bloe and his MBA to come up with CRM, HUB, Power of 3, SOAR, any other ridiculous acronym are you seeing a trend here?

You are a vacuous soul if you think that jamming cost savings down an employees rear end is a real stop gap means of saving money. It's a small savings that only breeds malcontent. Should I point out to you all the other blunders that cost BI money. Don't make me bring up Twin-est-tra, you know what I'm talking about...

Don't trivialize my point. I am talking about anti-employee tactics taking by BI about pension, pto, arbitration clauses. Who cares about a bar rule, dip-shit. Go fuck yourself.

To the fucktard who said "who really takes off time for sick kids?" i do im a single parent and these PTO days are just another fucked up way of screwing with us. Even if i am careful with my days i have never been able to roll over time, why bc i have two kids when one gets sick most often than not the other gets sick, then thats rt i get sick, then there is school closings for weather, thats rt u can have an inclement weather day if you work for 8 hours from home and email what you have accomplished to your manger at the end of the day, while shoveling or clearing a 300ft driveway and taking care of the two kids that are home all day with you, not taking into account the spring and winter vacations of my children. so after all is said and done i have 9 times out of ten no time to roll over, and have not takin a vacation in 7 years. So what were you saying? This doesnt affect who? F U!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
